This study analyses the social impact of obesity, focusing on the direct costs and, in particular,on the health-care expenditure. Using different socio-demographic variables and through theuse of Multiple Correspondence Analysis and Partial Least Squares Regression, the analysis: i)confirms the increase of the incidence of overweight and obesity when moving from Northernto Southern Italy; ii) identifies the main variables related to the growth of obesity; iii) highlightsa positive relationship between BMI and health-care costs and an incidence of 6% on theregional health-care costs. These findings confirm the need to define suitable guidelines fordecision makers and practitioners and to introduce mandatory regulations forcing companiesto effectuate product reformulation and achieve food safety. Indeed, asymmetric informationand consumer behaviour make investing in product reformulation undesirable for companiesbecause the use of attractive brands is more effective in influencing the purchasing decisionseven of a conscious consumer. Uninformed consumers often cling to the national brands, which sometimes, behind an image of familiarity and identity, may hide harmful ingredients(hydrogenated fats) or excessive quantities of certain ingredients (sugar, salt, saturatedfat) responsible for an unbalanced diet. Therefore, this justifies the introduction of bindingregulations. Keywords: Consumer Behaviour; Obesity; Social Costs; Health-Care Expenditure; MultivariateModel.

The implementation of ‘The Urban Renewal Project’ in Suriçi district of Suriçi county of Diyarbak?r city was aimed in accordance with the protocol signed by the relevant institutions in 18.12.2008; however, that project couldn’t have been implemented because of the severely reactions gotten by the local community by year 2016. It was aimed with that project to research the reasons of the reactions of the target group that resides in the project area and to reveal the potential social effects of the project over the target group from the sociological point of view within the context of ‘The Urban Renewal Project’. Because of building an opinion about what the possible social effects were, a situational analysis was carried out on the low-income group who lives in Suriçi area and in housing estate in Üçkuyular campus and who has the same social, cultural and economic features with the target group. The questionnaire technique was used in Suriçi and Üçkuyularfor achieving desired data, and two different questionnaire forms were prepared for them. It was interviewed with 196 householders in Suriçi and 50 householders in Üçkuyular.

Abstract. This research examines if aggressive responses through a shooter bias are systematically generated by priming outgroups or if a threat stereotypically associated with the primed outgroup is required. First, a pilot study identified outgroups stereotypically associated and not associated with threat. Afterwards, the main study included a manipulation of target group accessibility – ingroup versus nonthreatening outgroup versus threatening outgroup. Following exposure to primes of the group categories, the participants in all conditions played a shooter game in which the targets were males and females with ambiguous ethnicity and religion. Results demonstrated that while only priming of an outgroup stereotypically associated with threat elicits aggressive responses, priming of both nonthreatening and threatening outgroups leads to an increase in the ability to distinguish between stimuli compared to ingroup priming. These effects are discussed in terms of priming effects, dimensions of threat, and possible interpretations of this ability increase.

As previous meta-analyses have focused almost solely on English-speaking regions, this study presents the first systematic meta-analytical examination of the predictive validity of assessment centers (ACs) conducted in German-speaking regions. It summarizes 24 validity coefficients taken from 19 studies (N = 3,556), yielding a mean corrected validity of ρ = .396 (80% credibility interval .235 ≤ ρ ≤ .558). ACs with different purposes and different kinds of criterion measures were analyzed separately. Furthermore, target group (internal vs. external candidates), average age of the assessees, inclusion of intelligence measures, number of instruments used, AC duration, as well as time elapsed between AC and criterion assessment were found to moderate the validity.
