Electrolyte additive tris(trimethylsilyl) phosphite (TMSPi) was used to promote the electrochemical performances of LiNi[Formula: see text]Co[Formula: see text]Mn[Formula: see text]O2 (NCM523) at elevated voltage (4.5 V) and temperature (55[Formula: see text]C). The NCM523 in 2.0 wt.% TMSPi-added electrolyte exhibited a much higher capacity (166.8 mAh/g) than that in the baseline electrolyte (118.3 mAh/g) after 100 cycles under 4.5 V at 30[Formula: see text]C. Simultaneously, the NCM523 with 2.0 wt.% TMSPi showed superior rate capability compared to that without TMSPi. Besides, after 100 cycles at 55[Formula: see text]C under 4.5 V, the discharge capacity retention reached 87.4% for the cell with 2.0 wt.% TMSPi, however, only 24.4% of initial discharge capacity was left for the cell with the baseline electrolyte. A series of analyses (TEM, XPS and EIS) confirmed that TMSPi-derived solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) stabilized the electrode/electrolyte interface and hindered the increase of interface impedance, resulting in obviously enhanced electrochemical performances of NCM523 cathode materials under elevated voltage and/or temperature.

Abstract The traditional orthodontic power chain, usually made of polymer materials, exists some drawbacks, such as the reduction of elasticity due to swell after absorbing water and surface discoloration resulting from the patient’s diet, food, or beverage colors leading to poor appearance. The main purpose of this study was to develop surface modification on orthodontic power chain and to realize the properties change for improvement of its shortcomings. In this study, a template was produced by pure aluminum piece with anodized production (concave) through the nanoimprinting process fabricating nanostructures (convex) on the surface of power chain, resulting in surface modification of power chain. The different nanoimprinting process parameters (e.g., imprinting temperature, imprinting pressure, imprinting time, and demolding temperature) were used to produce nanostructures on the surface of power chain. The results of this study show that the contact angle of the power chain became larger after nanoimprinting surface treatment. The hydrophilic properties of power chain have been turned into hydrophobic properties. Unmodified power chain before water absorption is about 4%, while a modified water absorbance is about 2%–4%.

In this paper, first we investigate the heating-responsive shape memory effect in an acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS). Subsequently, after surface treatment (via dipping in acetone/water solution of different concentrations and for different dipping time) of pre-stretched samples, we demonstrate the feasibility to form strip shaped wrinkles atop the surface upon heating of pre-stretched ABS for shape recovery. The influential factors, such as acetone concentration and dipping time in surface treatment, are revealed and discussed.

AbstractThis paper reports on the design and fabrication of GaSb/n-InxGal1−xAsySb1−y/p-AlxGal−xAsySb1−y heterojuction photodetectors operating in the 2 - 2.4 µm wavelength region. Device structures were grown by LPE and fabricated as mesa-type diodes by RIE etching in CC14/H2 plasma. For mesa passivation a surface treatment in (NH42S water solution was carried out. The photodiodes structures are characterized by differential resistance RoA=400 ωcm2. Measured detectivity is in the range 3.1010 - 2. 1011 cmHz1/2/W, in dependence on the active area and cutoff wavelength.
