The solvothermal synthesis between Me(NO3)x ∙ yH2O (Mex+ = Fe3+, Ni2+, Mn2+, Co2+, Cu2+) and respectively 4-nitrosalycilic (4NSA) and 5-sulfosalicylic (5SSA) acids produced hybrid organic-inorganic compounds composed of Mex+ ions and organic fragments which include three different functional groups, carboxylic, hydroxyl and sulfonic, each coordinated to the Mex+ ions. The phase and chemical composition, microstructure and properties of Me2(H2O)4(5SSA)3·DMF and Me2(H2O)4(4NSA)2·DMF (DMF – dimethylformamide) hybrid compounds were evaluated and discussed. The synthesised materials were characterised by X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. The catalytic properties of the obtained compounds were also investigated.

<p>Catalytic hydrogenation of substituted aromatic nitrocompounds and hydrocarbons has been studied. It was established that monometallic Pd-catalysts were suitable for reduction of nitrogroups. Bifunctional catalysts such as Rh-Pt, Rh-Pd, Pd-Ru and Rh-Ru were used for hydrogenation of both aromatic ring and nitrogroup and sequence of their hydrogenation depended on support nature. Over Rh-Pt alumina supported catalysts consequent hydrogenation of NO2 and benzene ring took place, over silica supported catalysts their consecutive hydrogenation was observed. Such catalytic properties of bimetallic Rh-Pt and Rh-Pd catalysts probably connected with metal-metal interaction leading to optimal adsorption strength of uniformly adsorbed hydrogen. The optimal reaction conditions (temperature and hydrogen pressure) have been elaborated for synthesis of alicyclic amines with 95-99% yields.</p>

Herein, we report the one-step solvothermal synthesis of nitrogen doped TiO2 using N-methyl-2-pyrollidone as solvent cum dopant. The method leads to higher surface area, highly crystalline anatase TiO2 with improved visible light response.
