Scheelite (CaWO4)-type microphosphors were synthesized by the precipitation method assisted with cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB). All compounds crystallized in the tetragonal structure with space group [Formula: see text] (No. 88). FE-SEM micrographs illustrate the spherical-like morphologies and rough surface. PL spectra indicate the broad emission peak maximum at 613 nm under UV excitation. Luminescence decay curves monitored by [Formula: see text] transition ([Formula: see text] nm) of Eu[Formula: see text] in doped CaWO4 are presented, the curves exhibit a single-exponential feature and the lifetime for doped CaWO4 is 0.61 ms.

Phase-pure Eu3+doped Gd2Sn2O7nanocrystals have been successfully synthesized via a co-precipitation processes combined with hydrothermal treatment. The crystal structure, particle size, morphologies, composition, and photoluminescence properties of the as-synthesized products were investigated by XRD, SEM, TEM, EDS and PL. The samples were single-phase cubic pyrochlore-type nanocrystals with a typical size of about 30 - 60 nm. All the samples exhibited irregular flower like secondary nanostructure assembled by primary nanoparticles. Photoluminescence properties of Gd2Sn2O7:Eu3+were investigated, and the results revealed that the as-synthesized materials displayed intense and prevailing emission located at 580 - 630 nm. The excitation spectra indicated that an energy transfer from Gd3+to Eu3+occurred. Meanwhile, the concentration quenching phenomenon was observed in Gd2Sn2O7:Eu3+nanocrystals.

Abstract The synthesis and characterization of luminescent hybrid composites based on bisphenol A glycerolate (1 glycerol/phenol) diacrylate (BPA-Acr) as a cross-linking monomer and N-vinylpyrrolidone (NVP) as an active diluent, in the presence of UV initiator (Irgacure 651), are presented. Eu(III) and Tb(III) carboxylate complexes were added as luminescent components of composites. In their preparation, a constant concentration of the initiator (1%) and the BPA-Acr to NVP (10:3) ratio were applied. The structures of the obtained materials were confirmed by the infrared spectra (ATR-FTIR). Thermal properties of the cross-linked products were determined by different thermal analysis methods in air and nitrogen (TG–DTG–DSC and TG–FTIR). Thermal stability, pathways of thermal decomposition and volatile products of degradation were determined. Photoluminescence properties of the lanthanide complexes and the obtained composites were established. These materials can have the potential application as coatings filtering harmful UV radiation.

This work is dedicated to the preparation and characterization of the radio-, thermo-, and photoluminescent properties of Lu2O3:Eu and Lu2O3:Tb nanopowder (NPs) scintillators, prepared by means of hydrothermal processing, and their film analogues made of these NPs by the spin coating method. The luminescent properties of NPs and films were characterized by cathodoluminescence (CL), photoluminescence (PL), X-ray excited radioluminescence (RL), and thermoluminescence (TL) at low and high temperatures. In Lu2O3:Eu NPs and films, mostly the luminescence of Eu3+ ions occupying the C2 site of the host, with the most intensive peaks at 611.6 nm and a decay time of 1.5 ms, was observed. On the contrary, two types of Tb3+ centers in the C2 and C3i sites with the main emission lines at 542.4 and 544.0 nm and the corresponding 4f→5d excitation bands at 270 and 305 nm and decay times of t1/e = 2.17 and 3.96 ms were observed in the case of Lu2O3:Tb NPs and films. Indications were noted that Tb3+ in the C3i symmetry position was most active in the CL spectra of Lu2O3:Tb NPs and a respective film. Thermoluminescent peaks at 110 °C and 170 °C for Lu2O3:Eu NPs and at 75 °C and 120 °C in Lu2O3:Tb NPs were observed corresponding to the hole and electron traps, respectively. Significantly different onsets of temperature quenching of Eu3+ and Tb3+ luminescence in Lu2O3:Eu and Lu2O3:Tb NPs were found at ~90 °C and ~320 °C, respectively.

ABSTRACTThermodynamic analysis of the vapor phase over ZnGeP2 in Zn-Ge-P-Cl system has been carried out. The analysis showed that this system can be used for the vapor growth of ZnGeP2. Homoepitaxial layers of ZnGeP2 were grown in a closed system using chemical vapor transport. Electrical and photoluminescence properties of the layers were studied, and crystal lattice parameters were measured. Comparison of properties for bulk and vapor grown ZnGeP2 crystals were carried out. It was found that the vapor grown crystals have more perfect structure than the bulk ones, particularly, they have significantly lower vacancy concentration.

The synthesis, morphology, and photophysical properties of Poly[2,7-(9,9-dihexyl fluorene)]- block-poly(2-(Dimethylamino) ethyl methacrylate) (PF-b-PDMAEMA) copolymers in various mixed solvents, i.e., THF/MeOH, DMF/MeOH, and 1,4-Dioxane/MeOH, with methanol contents of 0, 10, 25, 50, 75, 90 vol.% were reported. TEM images showed that different aggregate morphologies of PF-b-PDMAEMA, including spherical and large compound micelles, cylinder, nanorods, long stick-like structure, could be prepared by introducing different amount of methanol into the copolymer/solvent system. The results indicated that aggregate morphologies of PF-b-PDMAEMA, which obtained from various coil lengths and mixed solvents, had a great influenced on the optical and photoluminescence properties of the prepared PF-b-PDMAEMA copolymers.
