In the title salt, C6H13N2O+·C6H2N3O7−(systematic name: 4-acetylpiperazin-1-ium 2,4,6-trinitrophenolate), the piperazin-1-ium ring has a slightly distorted chair conformation. In the picrate anion, the mean planes of the twoo-NO2andp-NO2groups are twisted with respect to the benzene ring by 15.0 (2), 68.9 (4) and 4.4 (3)°, respectively. In the crystal, N—H...O hydrogen bonds are observed, linking the ions into an infinite chain along [010]. In addition, weak cation–anion C—H...O intermolecular interactions and a weak π–π stacking interaction between the benzene rings of the anions, with an inter-centroid distance of 3.771 (8) Å, help to stabilize the crystal packing, giving an overall sheet structure lying parallel to (100). Disorder was modelled for one of the O atoms in one of theo-NO2groups over two sites with an occupancy ratio of 0.57 (6):0.43 (6).

In the title compound, C21H21O5PS·H2O·CH2Cl2, the phosphonium–sulfonate zwitterion has the acidic H atom located on the P atom rather than the sulfonate group. The S—O bond lengths [1.4453 (15)–1.4521 (14) Å] are essentially equal. In the crystal, the water molecules bridge two zwitterionsviaOwater—H...Osulfonatehydrogen bonds into a centrosymmetric dimer. The dimers are further linked by weak CAryl—H...Osulfonatehydrogen bonds into chains extending along [100]. The PH+group is not involved in intermolecular interactions.

In the molecules of the title compounds, (2E)-1-(3-bromo-thiophen-2-yl)-3-(2-methoxyphenyl)prop-2-en-1-one, C14H11BrO2S, (I), which crystallizes in the space groupP-1 with four independent molecules in the asymmetric unit (Z′ = 8), and (2E)-1-(3-bromothiophen-2-yl)-3-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)prop-2-en-1-one, C15H13BrO3S, (II), which crystallizes withZ′ = 8 in the space groupI2/a, the non-H atoms are nearly coplanar. The molecules of (I) pack with inversion symmetry stacked diagonally along thea-axis direction. Weak C—H...Br intramolecular interactions in each of the four molecules in the asymmetric unit are observed. In (II), weak C—H...O, bifurcated three-center intermolecular interactions forming dimers along with weak C—H...π and π–π stacking interactions are observed, linking the molecules into sheets along [001]. A weak C—H...Br intramolecular interaction is also present. There are no classical hydrogen bonds present in either structure.

In the title molecular salt, C9H10N5 +·C7H7O3S−, the asymmetric unit consists of a 2,4-diamino-6-phenyl-1,3,5-triazin-1-ium cation and a 4-methylbenzenesulfonate anion. The cation is protonated at the N atom lying between the amine and phenyl substituents. The protonated N and amino-group N atoms are involved in hydrogen bonding with the sulfonate O atoms through a pair of intermolecular N—H...O hydrogen bonds, giving rise to a hydrogen-bonded cyclic motif with R 2 2(8) graph-set notation. The inversion-related molecules are further linked by four N—H...O intermolecular interactions to produce a complementary DDAA (D = donor, A = acceptor) hydrogen-bonded array, forming R 2 2(8), R 4 2(8) and R 2 2(8) ring motifs. The centrosymmetrically paired cations form R 2 2(8) ring motifs through base-pairing via N—H...N hydrogen bonds. In addition, another R 3 3(10) motif is formed between centrosymetrically paired cations and a sulfonate anion via N—H...O hydrogen bonds. The crystal structure also features weak S=O...π and π–π interactions. Hirshfeld surface and fingerprint plots were employed in order to further study the intermolecular interactions.

The title compound, C10H10N4OS, is nearly planar with the mean planes of the hydroxybenzyl and triazole rings inclined at an angle of only 3.2 (7)°. In the crystal, O—H...N hydrogen bonds between the hydroxy group and the triazole ring in concert with weak N—H...S intermolecular interactions between the triazole ring and thione group form chains along [-210] enclosingR22(8) graph-set motifs. A weak intramolecular C—H...S interaction and intermolecular π–π interactions [centroid–centroid distance = 3.5990 (15) Å] are also observed.

Abstract The crystal structures of four azines, namely 1-3-bis(4-methoxyphenyl)-2,3-diaza-1,4-butadiene, 1, 1,3-bis(2,3-dimethoxyphenyl)-2,3-diaza-1,4-butadiene, 2, 1,3-bis(2-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-2,3-diaza-1,4-butadiene, 3, and 1,3-bis(2-hydroxy-4-methoxyphenyl)-2,3-diaza-1,4-butadiene, 4, are reported. Molecules of 3 and 4, and both independent molecules of 2, Mol A and Mol B, possess inversion centers. The central C=N–N=C units in each molecule is planar with an (E,E) conformation. The intermolecular interactions found in the four compounds are C–H···O, C–H–N, C–H---π and π---π interactions. However, there is no consistent set of intermolecular interactions for the four compounds. Compound, 1, has a two-dimensional undulating sheet structure, generated from C–H···O and C–H···N intermolecular hydrogen bonds. The only recognized intermolecular interaction in 2 is a C–H···O hydrogen bond, which results in a zig-zag chain of alternating molecules, Mol A and Mol B. While 3 forms a puckered sheet of molecules, solely via C–H···π interactions, its isomeric compound, 4, has a more elaborate three-dimensional structure generated from a combination of C–H···O hydrogen bonds, C–H···π and π···π interactions. The findings in this study, based on both PLATON and Hirshfeld approaches, for the four representative compounds match well the reported structural findings in the literature of related compounds, which are based solely on geometric parameters.

The synthesis and structural characterization of the monohydrated 1:2 cocrystal salt of acriflavine with 3,5-dinitrobenzoic acid [systematic name: 3,6-diamino-10-methylacridin-10-ium 3,5-dinitrobenzoate–3,5-dinitrobenzoic acid–water (1/1/1), C14H14N3 +·C7H3N2O6 −·C7H4N2O6·H2O] are reported. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction measurements show that the title solvated monohydrate salt crystalizes in the monoclinic space group P21 with one acriflavine cation, a 3,5-dinitrobenzoate anion, a 3,5-dinitrobenzoic acid molecule and a water molecule in the asymmetric unit. The neutral and anionic forms of 3,5-dinitrobenzoic acid are linked via O—H...O hydrogen bonds to form a monoanionic dimer. Neighbouring monoanionic dimers of 3,5-dinitrobenzoic acid are linked by nitro–nitro N—O...N and nitro–acid N—O...π intermolecular interactions to produce a porous organic framework. The acriflavine cations are linked with carboxylic acid molecules directly via amine–carboxy N—H...O, amine–nitro N—H...O and acriflavine–carboxy C—H...O hydrogen bonds, and carboxy–acriflavine C—O...π, nitro–acriflavine N—O...π and acriflavine–nitro π–π interactions, or through the water molecule by amino–water N—H...O and water–carboxy O—H...O hydrogen bonds, and are located in the voids of the porous organic framework. The intermolecular interactions were studied using the CrystalExplorer program to provide information about the interaction energies and the dispersion, electrostatic, polarization and repulsion contributions to the lattice energy.

The tetraphenylphosphonium squarate salt crystallizes with a number of diverse interactions, which all have the potential to be classified as hydrogen bonds. The squarate anions are found as dimers linked by O-H···O interactions. The multipole refinement of the tetraphenylphosphonium squarate was performed using the Hansen–Coppens model followed by topological analysis of its intermolecular interactions. A total of 28 interactions were found among the symmetry related molecules, which include a number of C-H···Cπ, C-H···O, and C-H···H-C interactions, along with the O-H···O interaction. With the criteria for hydrogen bonding proposed by Popelier and Koch, it is possible to determine which of these interactions are hydrogen bonds and which are van der Waals interactions. Both linear and exponentially dependent correlations can be seen for the properties of the bond critical points involving the intermolecular interactions that fulfill these criteria. All this leads to a better understanding of the role that hydrogen bonds play in the formation of small organic compounds.Key words: electron density, multiple refinement, hydrogen bonds.

The molecular and supramolecular structures of eight N 4-substituted 2,4-diamino-6-benzyloxy-5-nitrosopyrimidines are discussed, along with one analogue containing no nitroso substituent. The nitroso derivatives all exhibit polarized molecular-electronic structures leading to extensive charge-assisted hydrogen bonding between the molecules. The intermolecular interactions include hard hydrogen bonds of N—H...O and N—H...N types, together with O—H...O and O—H...N types in the monohydrate of 2-amino-6-benzyloxy-4-piperidino-5-nitrosopyrimidine, soft hydrogen bonds of C—H...O, C—H...π(arene) and N—H...π(arene) types and aromatic π...π stacking interactions. The predominant supramolecular structure types take the form of chains and sheets, but no two of the structures determined here exhibit the same combination of hydrogen-bond types.
