Ru nanoparticles/oxygen-deficient TiO2@carbon nanocomposites are efficiently fabricated via one-pot pyrolysis. TiO2-VO and carbon narrow the band gap, optimize ΔGH2O and ΔGH* and synergistically boost the activity of Ru for the alkaline HER.

A rapid, one-pot synthesis of surfactant-free MoS2nanoscrolls by supercritical fluid processing is demonstrated. The MoS2nanoscrolls showed size dependent luminescence behaviour. This method is promising for the direct exfoliation of other 2D layered materials.
