Tosylation of some alcohols and phenols has been directly carried out with p-toluenesulfonyl chloride using heterodoxy acids (H3PW12O40, H3PMo12O40, AlPW12O40, and AlPMo12O40) as catalysts in the absence of solvent. We found that heteropoly acids AlPW12O40 and AlPMo12O40 were effective catalysts for the tosylation of alcohols and phenols. In the case of aliphatic alcohols, secondary alcohols undergo tosylation chemoselectively in the presence of primary hydroxyl groups. This new method consistently has the advantage of excellent yields and short reaction time.Key words: tosylation, p-TsCl, Keggin-type polyoxometalate, solvent-free reaction.

A novel, highly efficient, antibacterial multifunctional thermal stabilizer, zinc norfloxacin (ZnNo2) for PVC was prepared, and studied by Congo red test, discoloration, dehydrochlorination test, visible spectroscopy and inhibition zone test.

Copper-catalyzed γ-selective substitution of allylic carbonates with diboron provides a new method for the efficient synthesis of allylboronates. Optically active α-chiral allylboronates were synthesized through the reaction of chiral allylic carbonates with bis(pinacolato)diboron in the presence of achiral Cu(I)-catalyst with highly efficient chirality transfer. Additionally, in the presence of a chiral Cu(I) catalyst, optically active α-chiral allylboronates were obtained with >90 % ee through the reaction of prochiral substrates with the diboron.

Prismatic perovskite solar cells (Prim PVSC) were designed to mitigate thermodynamic losses of traditional single unit cells. By guiding the flow of light, the solar photons with high-to-low energy could be captured separately by the four subcells with varied, yet matched, bandgaps of MAPbIxBr3−xfilms. This is the first Prim PVSC with four series subcells that generates a recordVocof 5.3 V and a high PCE of 21.3%, providing a new method for breaking the PCE bottleneck of PVSCs.
