The field experiment was conducted to study the effect on yield, water use, economics and storability of onion during rabi season of 2014-17 at Interfaculty Department of Irrigation Water Management, MPKV Rahuri. The experiment comprised of 100, 80 and 60 per cent recommended dose of fertilizer through fertigation, irrigation N and K through drip and P application in soil, drip with conventional fertilizers application in soil, surface irrigation with conventional fertilizers as control and micro-sprinkler irrigation with 100 % RDF through fertigation. The drip irrigation was beneficial than surface irrigation in increasing the yield (78.8 %) and saving the fertilizer. The total seasonal water requirement in drip irrigation was 480.3 mm compared to 807.2 mm in surface irrigation. The drip irrigation with 100 % RDF though fertigation was profitable higher net seasonal income of Rs. 2,74,445 per ha, compared to control (Rs.1,41,955 per ha) with B:C of 4.62 and water productivity of Rs. 566 per mm of water used. The micro-sprinkler irrigation with 100 % RDF through fertigation had significantly maximum total storage losses of 21.10 per cent followed by surface irrigation with 100 % RD of conventional fertilizer (19.86 %) and drip irrigation with 100 % RDF through fertigation. The results revealed that drip fertigation with 100 % RDF through fertigation in 13 weekly splits as per schedule is the best treatment to improve the yield, economical returns and storability of onion (var. N-2-4-1) cultivated in silty clay loam soils of Western Maharashtra.

Single or double irrigations of wheat are necessary to obtain optimum yield in a humid region with insufficient rainfall for agricultural production. Therefore, the hereby study was conducted with the aim of analysis of water productivity under rainfed and (single or double) irrigated conditions in a Mediterranean environment during 11 cropping years. There were investigated four treatments for irrigation management of wheat viz. rainfed without irrigation (T0), single irrigation at the flowering stage (T1), single irrigation at the grain filling stage (T2) and double irrigation at the flowering and grain filling stages (T3). Results revealed that the highest water productivity and optimum yield were acquired with single irrigation at the grain filling stage. This scheme caused an increase of 20% in grain yield relative to yield from rainfed condition. Rainfall, grain yield and water productivity of rainfed wheat were analyzed over 11 years and averaged 3,614 m3 ha-1, 1,970 kg ha-1 and 0.63 kg m-3, respectively. Results also showed that single or double irrigation had a high compensation effect on yield loss from water stress. Irrigation water productivity (1.31 kg m-3), water productivity (0.68 kg m-3) and irrigation ratio (2.2) indices determined for the 11 years. Water productivity of rainfed wheat by single irrigation at grain filling stage increased as 10% during 11 years.

The deficit of the irrigation water requires irrigation technologies with more efficient water use. For cucumbers, the most suitable is the drip irrigation technology. For establishing of the appropriate irrigation schedule of cucumbers under the soil and climate conditions in the village of Chelopechene, near Sofia city, the researchеs was conducted with drip irrigation technology, adopting varying irrigation schedules and hydraulic regimes - from fully meeting the daily crops water requirements cucumbers to reduced depths with 20% and 40%. It have been established irrigation schedule with adequate pressure flows in the water source, irrigation water productivity and yields of in plastic unheated greenhouses of the Sofia plant.
