The question of whether an injective module E over a noncommutative noetherian ring R remains injective after localization with respect to a denominator set X⊆R is addressed. (For a commutative noetherian ring, the answer is well-known to be positive.) Injectivity of the localization E[X-1] is obtained provided either R is fully bounded (a result of K. A. Brown) or X consists of regular normalizing elements. In general, E [X-1] need not be injective, and examples are constructed. For each positive integer n, there exists a simple noetherian domain R with Krull and global dimension n+1, a left and right denominator set X in R, and an injective right R-module E such that E[X-1 has injective dimension n; moreover, E is the injective hull of a simple module.

Let S and R be rings and SCR a semidualizing bimodule. We define and study GC-FP-injective R-modules, and these modules are exactly C-Gorenstein injective R-modules defined by Holm and Jørgensen provided that S = R is a commutative Noetherian ring. We mainly prove that the category of GC-FP-injective R-modules is a part of a weak AB-context, which is dual of weak AB-context in the terminology of Hashimoto. In particular, this allows us to deduce the existence of certain Auslander–Buchweitz approximations for R-modules with finite GC-FP-injective dimension. As an application, a new model structure in Mod R is given.

AbstractFor any ring R, we show that, in the bounded derived category Db(Mod R) of left R-modules, the subcategory of complexes with finite Gorenstein projective (resp. injective) dimension modulo the subcategory of complexes with finite projective (resp. injective) dimension is equivalent to the stable category (resp. ) of Gorenstein projective (resp. injective) modules. As a consequence, we get that if R is a left and right noetherian ring admitting a dualizing complex, then and are equivalent.

AbstractLet A be a commutative noetherian ring, let a ⊆ A be an ideal, and let I be an injective A-module. A basic result in the structure theory of injective modules states that the A-module Γa(I) consisting of ɑ-torsion elements is also an injective A-module. Recently, de Jong proved a dual result: If F is a flat A-module, then the ɑ-adic completion of F is also a flat A-module. In this paper we generalize these facts to commutative noetherian DG-rings: let A be a commutative non-positive DG-ring such that H0(A) is a noetherian ring and for each i < 0, the H0(A)-module Hi(A) is finitely generated. Given an ideal ⊆ H0(A), we show that the local cohomology functor R associated with does not increase injective dimension. Dually, the derived -adic completion functor LΛ does not increase flat dimension.

Let R be a left and right Noetherian ring and RωR a faithfully balanced self-orthogonal bimodule. We introduce the notions of special embeddings and modules of ω-D-class n, and then give some characterizations of them. As an application, we study the properties of RωR with finite injective dimension. Our results extend the main results in [4].

LetEbe an injective module over the commutative Noetherian ringA, and letabe an ideal ofA. TheA-module (0:Eα) has a secondary representation, and the finite set AttA(0:Eα) of its attached prime ideals can be formed. One of the main results of this note is that the sequence of sets (AttA(0:Eαn))n∈Nis ultimately constant. This result is analogous to a theorem of M. Brodmann that, ifMis a finitely generatedA-module, then the sequence of sets (AssA(M/αnM))n∈Nis ultimately constant.

This is the second of two papers based on Chapter V of the author's Ph.D. thesis [K1]. For acknowledgements please refer to [K3]. In this paper I apply some of the ideas and techniques introduced in [K3] to the study of a very specific example. I obtain an upper bound for the positive Deissler rank of an injective module over a commutative Noetherian ring in terms of Krull dimension. The problem of finding lower bounds is vastly more difficult and is not addressed here, although I make a few comments and a conjecture at the end.For notation, terminology and definitions, I refer the reader to [K3]. I also use material on ideals and injective modules from [N] and [Ma]. Deissler's rank was introduced in [D].For the most part, in this paper all modules are unitary left modules over a commutative Noetherian ring Λ but in §1 I begin with a few useful results on totally transcendental modules and the relation between Deissler's rank rk and rk+.Recall that if P is a prime ideal of Λ, then an ideal I of Λ is P-primary if I ⊂ P, λ ∈ P implies that λn ∈ I for some n and if λµ ∈ I, λ ∉ P, then µ ∈ I. The intersection of finitely many P-primary ideals is again P-primary, and any P-primary ideal can be written as the intersection of finitely many irreducible P-primary ideals since Λ is Noetherian. Every irreducible ideal is P-primary for some prime ideal P. In addition, it will be important to recall that if P and Q are prime ideals, I is P-primary, J is Q-primary, and J ⊃ I, then Q ⊃ P. (All of these results can be found in [N].)

Let R be a commutative Noetherian ring, 𝔞 an ideal of R and M, N two finitely generated R-modules. Let t be a positive integer or ∞. We denote by Ωt the set of ideals 𝔠 such that [Formula: see text] for all i < t. First, we show that there exists the ideal 𝔟t which is the largest in Ωt and [Formula: see text]. Next, we prove that if 𝔡 is an ideal such that 𝔞 ⊆ 𝔡 ⊆ 𝔟t, then [Formula: see text] for all i < t.

AbstractWe study bounded derived categories of the category of representations of infinite quivers over a ring R. In case R is a commutative noetherian ring with a dualising complex, we investigate an equivalence similar to Grothendieck duality for these categories, while a notion of dualising complex does not apply to them. The quivers we consider are left (resp. right) rooted quivers that are either noetherian or their opposite are noetherian. We also consider reflection functor and generalize a result of Happel to noetherian rings of finite global dimension, instead of fields.

For a hereditary torsion theory τ, a moduleAis called τ-completedly decomposable if it is a direct sum of modules that are the τ-injective hull of each of their non-zero submodules. We give a positive answer in several cases to the following generalised Matlis' problem: Is every direct summand of a τ-completely decomposable module still τ-completely decomposable? Secondly, for a commutative Noetherian ringRthat is not a domain, we determine those torsion theories with the property that every τ-injective module is an essential extension of a (τ-injective) τ-completely decomposable module.

Let A be a noetherian ring. When A is commutative (of finite Krull dimension), A is said to be Gorenstein if its injective dimension is finite. If A has finite global dimension, one says that A is regular. If A is arbitrary, these hypotheses are not sufficient to obtain similar results to those of the commutative case. To remedy this problem, M. Auslander has introduced a supplementary condition. Before stating it, we recall that the grade of a finitely generated (left or right) module is defined by
