AbstractWe consider the two-parameter Sturm–Liouville system$$ -y_1''+q_1y_1=(\lambda r_{11}+\mu r_{12})y_1\quad\text{on }[0,1], $$with the boundary conditions$$ \frac{y_1'(0)}{y_1(0)}=\cot\alpha_1\quad\text{and}\quad\frac{y_1'(1)}{y_1(1)}=\frac{a_1\lambda+b_1}{c_1\lambda+d_1}, $$and$$ -y_2''+q_2y_2=(\lambda r_{21}+\mu r_{22})y_2\quad\text{on }[0,1], $$with the boundary conditions$$ \frac{y_2'(0)}{y_2(0)} =\cot\alpha_2\quad\text{and}\quad\frac{y_2'(1)}{y_2(1)}=\frac{a_2\mu+b_2}{c_2\mu+d_2}, $$subject to the uniform-left-definite and uniform-ellipticity conditions; where $q_{i}$ and $r_{ij}$ are continuous real valued functions on $[0,1]$, the angle $\alpha_{i}$ is in $[0,\pi)$ and $a_{i}$, $b_{i}$, $c_{i}$, $d_{i}$ are real numbers with $\delta_{i}=a_{i}d_{i}-b_{i}c_{i}>0$ and $c_{i}\neq0$ for $i,j=1,2$. Results are given on asymptotics, oscillation of eigenfunctions and location of eigenvalues.

Oscillation, comparison and asymptotic theory for the Sturm-Liouville problemwith 1/p, q, r ε L1 ([0, 1]), p, r > 0, are studied subject to eigenvalue-dependent boundary conditionsThis continues previous work on cases with (− 1)j δj ≦ 0 where δj = ajdj − bjcj. We now consider the remaining sign conditions for δj, exploiting the interplay between the graph of cot θ− (λ, 1), for a modified Prüfer angle θ−, and the eigencurves of a related two-parameter problem.

The Sturm-Liouville problem with various types of two-point boundary conditions is considered in this paper. In the first part of the paper, we investigate the Sturm-Liouville problem in three cases of nonlocal two-point boundary conditions. We prove general properties of the eigenfunctions and eigenvalues for such a problem in the complex case. In the second part, we investigate the case of real eigenvalues. It is analyzed how the spectrum of these problems depends on the boundary condition parameters. Qualitative behavior of all eigenvalues subject to the nonlocal boundary condition parameters is described.

Abstract In this article we study a family of four-dimensional, $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 2 supergravity theories that interpolates between all the single dilaton truncations of the SO(8) gauged $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 8 supergravity. In this infinitely many theories characterized by two real numbers — the interpolation parameter and the dyonic “angle” of the gauging — we construct non-extremal electrically or magnetically charged black hole solutions and their supersymmetric limits. All the supersymmetric black holes have non-singular horizons with spherical, hyperbolic or planar topology. Some of these supersymmetric and non-extremal black holes are new examples in the $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 8 theory that do not belong to the STU model. We compute the asymptotic charges, thermodynamics and boundary conditions of these black holes and show that all of them, except one, introduce a triple trace deformation in the dual theory.

AbstractIn this paper we consider singular Sturm–Liouville problems with eigenparameter dependent boundary conditions and two singular endpoints. The spectrum of such problems can be approximated by those of the inherited restriction operators constructed. Via the abstract operator theory, the strongly resolvent convergence and norm resolvent convergence of a sequence of operators are obtained and it follows that the spectral inclusion of spectrum holds. Moreover, spectral exactness of spectrum holds for two special cases.
