AbstractIn this paper, we study the homogenised algebra B of the enveloping algebra U of the Lie algebra sℓ(2,ℂ). We look first to connections between the category of graded left B-modules and the category of U-modules, then we prove B is Koszul and Artin–Schelter regular of global dimension four, hence its Yoneda algebra B! is self-injective of radical five zeros, and the structure of B! is given. We describe next the category of homogenised Verma modules, which correspond to the lifting to B of the usual Verma modules over U, and prove that such modules are Koszul of projective dimension two. It was proved in Martínez-Villa and Zacharia (Approximations with modules having linear resolutions, J. Algebra266(2) (2003), 671–697)] that all graded stable components of a self-injective Koszul algebra are of type ZA∞. Here, we characterise the graded B!-modules corresponding to the Koszul duality to homogenised Verma modules, and prove that these are located at the mouth of a regular component. In this way we obtain a family of components over a wild algebra indexed by ℂ.

AbstractIn a previous paper, we studied the homogenized enveloping algebra of the Lie algebrasℓ(2,ℂ) and the homogenized Verma modules. The aim of this paper is to study the homogenization$\mathcal{O}$Bof the Bernstein–Gelfand–Gelfand category$\mathcal{O}$of sℓ(2,ℂ), and to apply the ideas developed jointly with J. Mondragón in our work on Groebner basis algebras, to give the relations between the categories$\mathcal{O}$Band$\mathcal{O}$as well as, between the derived categories$\mathcal{D}$b($\mathcal{O}$B) and$\mathcal{D}$b($\mathcal{O}$).

AbstractThe problem of finding generators of the subalgebra of invariants under the action of a group of automorphisms of a finite-dimensional Lie algebra on its universal enveloping algebra is reduced to finding homogeneous generators of the same group acting on the symmetric tensor algebra of the Lie algebra. This process is applied to prove a constructive Hilbert–Nagata Theorem (including degree bounds) for the algebra of invariants in a Lie nilpotent relatively free associative algebra endowed with an action induced by a representation of a reductive group.

AbstractLet 𝔮 be a finite-dimensional Lie algebra. The symmetric algebra (𝔮) is equipped with the standard Lie–Poisson bracket. In this paper, we elaborate on a surprising observation that one naturally associates the second compatible Poisson bracket on (𝔮) to any finite order automorphism ϑ of 𝔮. We study related Poisson-commutative subalgebras (𝔮; ϑ) of 𝒮(𝔮) and associated Lie algebra contractions of 𝔮. To obtain substantial results, we have to assume that 𝔮 = 𝔤 is semisimple. Then we can use Vinberg’s theory of ϑ-groups and the machinery of Invariant Theory. If 𝔤 = 𝔥⊕⋯⊕𝔥 (sum of k copies), where 𝔥 is simple, and ϑ is the cyclic permutation, then we prove that the corresponding Poisson-commutative subalgebra (𝔮; ϑ) is polynomial and maximal. Furthermore, we quantise this (𝔤; ϑ) using a Gaudin subalgebra in the enveloping algebra 𝒰(𝔤).

We examine PBW deformations of finite group extensions of quantum symmetric algebras, in particular the quantum Drinfeld orbifold algebras defined by the first author. We give a homological interpretation, in terms of Gerstenhaber brackets, of the necessary and sufficient conditions on parameter functions to define a quantum Drinfeld orbifold algebra, thus clarifying the conditions. In case the acting group is trivial, we determine conditions under which such a PBW deformation is a generalized enveloping algebra of a color Lie algebra; our PBW deformations include these algebras as a special case.

Let M be a Verma module over the Lie algebra, sl 2(k), of trace zero 2 × 2 matrices over the algebraically closed field k. We show that the ring, RM, of definable scalars of M is a von Neumann regular ring and that the canonical map from U( sl 2(k)) to RM is an epimorphism of rings. We also describe the Ziegler closure of M. The proofs make use of ideas from the model theory of modules.

Let [Formula: see text] be an untwisted affine Kac–Moody Lie algebra. The top of every irreducible highest weight integrable [Formula: see text]-module is the finite-dimensional irreducible [Formula: see text]-module, where the action of the simple Lie algebra [Formula: see text] is given by zeroth products arising from the underlying vertex operator algebra theory. Motivated by this fact, we consider zeroth products of level [Formula: see text] Frenkel–Jing operators corresponding to Drinfeld realization of the quantum affine algebra [Formula: see text]. By applying these products, which originate from the quantum vertex algebra theory developed by Li, on the extension of Koyama vertex operator [Formula: see text], we obtain an infinite-dimensional vector space [Formula: see text]. Next, we introduce an associative algebra [Formula: see text], a certain quantum analogue of the universal enveloping algebra [Formula: see text], and construct some infinite-dimensional [Formula: see text]-modules [Formula: see text] corresponding to the finite-dimensional irreducible [Formula: see text]-modules [Formula: see text]. We show that the space [Formula: see text] carries a structure of an [Formula: see text]-module and, furthermore, we prove that the [Formula: see text]-module [Formula: see text] is isomorphic to the [Formula: see text]-module [Formula: see text].

AbstractWe construct an explicit set of algebraically independent generators for the center of the universal enveloping algebra of the centralizer of a nilpotent matrix in the general linear Lie algebra over a field of characteristic zero. In particular, this gives a new proof of the freeness of the center, a result first proved by Panyushev, Premet and Yakimova.
