Abstract We establish a new genus of planocerid polyclad, Heteroplanocera gen. nov., based on a new species, H. katoi sp. nov., collected at a depth of 245 m off the coast of the Izu Peninsula, West Pacific, Japan. Heteroplanocera gen. nov. is distinguished from other planocerid genera by the following characteristics: (i) a pair of nuchal tentacles, (ii) a muscular bulb, (iii) a pair of spermiducal bulbs (instead of a seminal vesicle), (iv) a free prostatic vesicle, (v) a pair of accessory organs with teeth, (vi) a Lang's vesicle, and (vii) the lack of a bursa copulatrix. We provide a partial sequence of the cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI) gene (712 bp) as a DNA barcode of the new species. Furthermore, we estimate the phylogenetic position of Heteroplanocera gen. nov. among Planoceridae based on partial sequences of COI and 16S, 18S, and 28S ribosomal DNA. Based on our findings, we discuss the evolution and function of the (i) vaginal cuticularized structure and (ii) accessory organs among planocerid flatworms.

The genus Parapentacentrus Shiraki, 1930 includes two species with long wings. In this paper, we report one new species, P. brevipennis He sp. nov., from Jinping, Yunnan, China. The new species have short forewings and hindwings, and have differences in the shape of supra-anal plate and male genitalia. DNA Barcode (COI gene) of this new species are provided. The type specimens are deposited in Museum of Biology, East China Normal University (ECNU).

AbstractThe new lichen genus Sergipea M. Cáceres, Ertz & Aptroot is described in the Roccellaceae, based on the new species Sergipea aurata M. Cáceres, Ertz & Aptroot from NE Brazil. The species was found in a remnant of Atlantic transition forest in Sergipe. It is similar in many respects to species of the genus Enterographa, but it is characterized by bright orange stromata, due to the presence of an anthraquinone, and a thallus with a somewhat byssoid hypothallus. Phylogenetically it is close to the genera Dichosporidium and Erythrodecton. The phylogenetic position of the generic type of Dichosporidium confirms the close relationship of the genus to Erythrodecton in the basal branch of the Roccellaceae. A new species of Enterographa is also described from NE Brazil. Enterographa rotundata E. L. Lima, M. Cáceres & Aptroot has solitary, round apothecia, which is unusual in this genus with mainly elongated apothecia or punctiform apothecia arranged in lines. It was found in Caatinga forest in Pernambuco.

Peucedanum huangshanense, a new species discovered in Anhui, China, is illustrated and described. Detailed morphological comparisons have showed that it is similar to P. praeruptorum but differs from the latter by having larger compound umbels (5–14 cm across), rays up to 25, and long-ovoid mericarps with lateral ribs narrowly winged. To explore the phylogenetic position of this species, nuclear ribosomal DNA internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region was sequenced for P. huangshanense and P. praeruptorum collected in different places. The morphological and molecular evidences support the hypothesis that P. huangshanense is a new distinct species.

Coltriciella multipileata is described here as a new species from Mexico. The species grow on soils in open areas at the vicinity of living trees of Pinus patula, and its known only from the Parque Recreativo Los Colomos, Jalisco. The phylogenetic analysis based on partial nuclear 28S ribosomal DNA sequences, recovered Coltriciella multipileata as sister group with a specimen reported as ectomycorrhizal, and closely related with other two species that are considered saprophitic. According with our preliminary analysis of character states reconstruction, the ectomycorrhizal condition appeared early in the Coltriciella clade, with a high rate of transitions between ectomycorrhizal and saprophitic conditions. A key for species similar to Coltriciella multipileata is presented.

A new genus of Lygistorrhinidae, Asiorrhina gen. n., and a new species, Asiorrhina parasiatica sp. n., are described. Asiorrhina asiatica (Senior-White) comb. n. is redescribed and selected as the type species for the new genus. The systematic position of the new genus is discussed. All recent taxa of Lygistorrhinidae form a monophyletic group with the fossil genus Palaeognoriste Meunier as the sister group.

A new palaemonid shrimp genus, Opaepupu gen. nov., is established to accommodate a new species of bivalve-associated shrimp, Opaepupu huna sp. nov. from Hawaii. A single mated pair, the female holotype and the male allotype, were found inside the trapezid bivalve Trapezium oblongum (Linnaeus, 1758) at a depth of 14 m in Kâne’ohe Bay, Hawai’i. The new genus is characterised by the rostrum being proximally broad, distally pointed, mid-dorsally carinate, and non-dentate; the anterolateral margin of the carapace without supraorbital, hepatic or epigastric teeth, but with a strong sharp antennal tooth; the sixth pleonite posteriorly unarmed; the telson medially depressed, with the dorsal surface armed with two pairs of submarginal cuspidate setae and with the posterior margin armed with two pairs of spiniform setae; the distolateral angle of the first article of the antennular peduncle without a sharp tooth; the mandible without a palp; the maxillular palp furnished with one long stiff seta dorsal to a small tooth-like extension; the first maxilliped without a palp; the third maxilliped not being operculate; the second pereiopods moderately robust, relatively slender, subequal, subsymmetrical, with simple teeth on the cutting edges of the fingers; the ambulatory pereiopods being slender, each ending in an elongate biunguiculate dactylus; and the uropodal exopod with a faint diaeresis and greatly reduced distolateral spiniform seta. The phylogenetic position of Opaepupu gen. nov. remains unclear, although it does not appear to be closely related to other bivalve-associated palaemonid genera.

A new species of Plutomurus Yosii, 1956, P. jangamensis sp. nov., was found in a limestone cave of South Korea. The new species is very similar to P. gul (Yosii, 1966) in the general pattern of cephalic and body chaetotaxy, absence of eye, presence of pointed tenent hair, number of lateral macrochaetae in basal segment of dens, and number of mucronal intermediate tooth; however, the two species can be distinguished by the small spines arranged in-a-row along with dental spines and lighter body color. This species, however, shows variability and was not easily classified morphologically as P. jangamensis sp. nov. and P. gul., in terms of body color, formula of dental spine, or even the number of prelabral chaetae. Partial DNA sequences of the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI) gene were used as DNA barcodes to distinguish the species. This result suggests that the COI gene is useful for discrimination of P. jangamensis sp. nov. with high support (bootstrap=100). An identification key to the world species of Plutomurus is also provided.

The surprising discovery of a population of a new species of Antirrhineae (Plantaginaceae) has also given rise to the description of a new genus situated in the subtribe Maurandyinae: Gadoria falukei. This is supported by the characteristics of the flower, pollen grains, seeds and capsule, and phylogenetic results based on DNA sequences. The species is endemic from Sierra de Gádor, Almería, Spain. Scanning electron microscopy was used to explore micromorphology of the capsule, indument, and seed and pollen grains ornamentation. Additionally, chromosomal number, preliminary insights on reproductive biology, phylogenetic position within Antirrhineae, ecological data and conservation status of the new species are provided.

Dichrooscytus fervens Muinonen & Rinne sp. n. (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Miridae) is described based on material collected in Finland between 2011 and 2018. A morphological description is provided along with DNA barcodes (COI gene) and a phylogeny of all the Dichrooscytus species for which a DNA barcode is available. The new species lives on Picea spp. and is still known only from Finland. A map of all the records is given, as well as an identification key of the Dichrooscytus species occurring in northern Europe.

During a DNA barcoding campaign of leaf-mining Gracillariidae from the Asian part of Russia, a new species ofPhyllonorycterHübner, feeding on the Siberian pea shrub,CaraganaarborescensLam. (Fabaceae) was discovered in Siberia. Here, this taxon is described asPhyllonorycterivanisp. n.Among Fabaceae-feedingPhyllonorycter, so far onlyP.caraganella(Ermolaev) has been known to develop onCaragana.PhyllonorycterivaniandP.caraganellashow a large divergence in morphology (external and male genitalia) and barcode region of the mtDNA-COI gene (8.6%). They feed on different host plants species and have different ranges in Russia. We show that DNA barcode data weakly supports the Fabaceae-feeding species groups. In addition, we show that morphologically (strongly) and genetically (weakly),P.ivanihas affinity to thehaasispecies group, a West Palearctic group with asymmetrical male genitalia.
