AbstractIn this paper one more canonical method to construct the irreducible unitary representations of a connected, simply connected nilpotent Lie group is introduced. Although we used Kirillov' analysis to deduce this procedure, the method obtained differs from that of Kirillov's, in that one does not need to consider the codjoint representation of the group in the dual of its Lie algebra (in fact, neither does one need to consider the Lie algebra of the group, provided one knows certain connected subgroups and their characters). The method also differs from that of Mackey's as one only needs to induce characters to obtain all irreducible representations of the group.

Abstract Every simply connected and connected solvable Lie group 𝐺 admits a simply transitive action on a nilpotent Lie group 𝐻 via affine transformations. Although the existence is guaranteed, not much is known about which Lie groups 𝐺 can act simply transitively on which Lie groups 𝐻. So far, the focus was mainly on the case where 𝐺 is also nilpotent, leading to a characterization depending only on the corresponding Lie algebras and related to the notion of post-Lie algebra structures. This paper studies two different aspects of this problem. First, we give a method to check whether a given action ρ : G → Aff ⁡ ( H ) \rho\colon G\to\operatorname{Aff}(H) is simply transitive by looking only at the induced morphism φ : g → aff ⁡ ( h ) \varphi\colon\mathfrak{g}\to\operatorname{aff}(\mathfrak{h}) between the corresponding Lie algebras. Secondly, we show how to check whether a given solvable Lie group 𝐺 acts simply transitively on a given nilpotent Lie group 𝐻, again by studying properties of the corresponding Lie algebras. The main tool for both methods is the semisimple splitting of a solvable Lie algebra and its relation to the algebraic hull, which we also define on the level of Lie algebras. As an application, we give a full description of the possibilities for simply transitive actions up to dimension 4.

AbstractWe define stacky Lie groups to be group objects in the 2-category of differentiable stacks. We show that every connected and étale stacky Lie group is equivalent to a crossed module of the form (Γ,G) where Γ is the fundamental group of the given stacky Lie group and G is the connected and simply connected Lie group integrating the Lie algebra of the stacky group. Our result is closely related to a strictification result of Baez and Lauda.

AbstractWe formulate and prove two versions of Miyachi’s theorem for connected, simply connected nilpotent Lie groups. This allows us to prove the sharpness of the constant 1/4 in the theorems of Hardy and of Cowling and Price for any nilpotent Lie group. These theorems are proved using a variant of Miyachi’s theorem for the group Fourier transform.

<p class="Abstract">In this paper, we study irreducible unitary representations of a real standard filiform Lie group with dimension equals 4 with respect to its basis. To find this representations we apply the orbit method introduced by Kirillov. The corresponding orbit of this representation is genereric orbits of dimension 2. Furthermore, we show that obtained representation of this group is square-integrable. Moreover, in such case , we shall consider its Duflo-Moore operator as multiple of scalar  identity operator. In our case  that scalar is equal to one.</p>

AbstractLet G be a connected complex simple Lie group, and let {\widehat{G}^{\mathrm{d}}} be the set of all equivalence classes of irreducible unitary representations with non-vanishing Dirac cohomology. We show that {\widehat{G}^{\mathrm{d}}} consists of two parts: finitely many scattered representations, and finitely many strings of representations. Moreover, the strings of {\widehat{G}^{\mathrm{d}}} come from {\widehat{L}^{\mathrm{d}}} via cohomological induction and they are all in the good range. Here L runs over the Levi factors of proper θ-stable parabolic subgroups of G. It follows that figuring out {\widehat{G}^{\mathrm{d}}} requires a finite calculation in total. As an application, we report a complete description of {\widehat{F}_{4}^{\mathrm{d}}}.

We consider pairs (V, H) of subgroups of a connected unipotent complex Lie group G for which the induced V × H-action on G by multiplication from the left and from the right is free. We prove that this action is proper if the Lie algebra 𝔤 of G is 3-step nilpotent. If 𝔤 is 2-step nilpotent, then there is a global slice of the action that is isomorphic to ℂn. Furthermore, a global slice isomorphic to ℂn exists if dim V = 1 = dim H or dim V = 1 and 𝔤 is 3-step nilpotent. We give an explicit example of a 3-step nilpotent Lie group and a pair of 2-dimensional subgroups such that the induced action is proper but the corresponding geometric quotient is not affine.

Abstract We study left-invariant conformal Killing 2- or 3-forms on simply connected 2-step nilpotent Riemannian Lie groups. We show that if the center of the group is of dimension greater than or equal to 4, then every such form is automatically coclosed (i.e. it is a Killing form). In addition, we prove that the only Riemannian 2-step nilpotent Lie groups with center of dimension at most 3 and admitting left-invariant non-coclosed conformal Killing 2- and 3-forms are the following: The Heisenberg Lie groups and their trivial 1-dimensional extensions, endowed with any left-invariant metric, and the simply connected Lie group corresponding to the free 2-step nilpotent Lie algebra on 3 generators, with a particular 1-parameter family of metrics. The explicit description of the space of conformal Killing 2- and 3-forms is provided in each case.

Criterion for proper actions has been established for a homogeneous space of reductive type by Kobayashi (Math. Ann. 1989, 1996). On the other hand, an analogous criterion to Kobayashi’s equivalent conditions was proposed by Lipsman (1995) for a nilpotent Lie group . Lipsman's Conjecture: Let  be a simply connected nilpotent Lie group. Then the following two conditions on connected subgroups  and  are equivalent: (i) the action of  on  is proper; (ii)  is compact for any  The condition (i) is important in the study of discontinuous groups for the homogeneous space , while the second condition (ii) can easily be checked. The implication (i)  (ii) is obvious, and the opposite implication (ii)  (i) was known only in some lower dimensional cases. In this paper we prove the equivalence (i) ? (ii) for certain affine nilpotent Lie groups . AbstractWe show that for a locally free $C^{\infty }$-action of a connected and simply connected nilpotent Lie group on a compact manifold, if every real-valued cocycle is cohomologous to a constant cocycle, then the action is parameter rigid. The converse is true if the action has a dense orbit. Using this, we construct parameter rigid actions of simply connected nilpotent Lie groups whose Lie algebras admit rational structures with graduations. This generalizes the results of dos Santos [Parameter rigid actions of the Heisenberg groups. Ergod. Th. & Dynam. Sys.27(2007), 1719–1735] concerning the Heisenberg groups.
