Ordered arrays of straight, parallel SnO2 nanotubes are prepared by atomic layer deposition (ALD) on inert ‘anodic’ alumina porous membranes serving as templates. The tunable geometry yields exceptional capacity retention after hundreds of cycles.
SnO2 nanotube arrays embedded in a carbon layer were fabricated via a simple sol–gel method, which has shown good battery performance.
