The emergency escape hatches of refuge cabin are usually installed in both sides of the life supporting compartment, which might cause the toxic gases or water enter into life supporting compartment when the gas explosion and water inrush accident occur. A new type of refuge cabin structure that can effectively resist the toxic gases and water entering the life supporting compartment is developed in this paper. Numerical simulation of antiknock impact performance of the new refuge cabin was calculated and analyzed by using the finite element software of LS-DYNA.The stress and strain distributions and maximum antiknock performance were obtained. Refuge chamber cabin has been optimized to reduce cost. The antiknock impact performance of optimized mine refuge chamber cabin can reach 1.4MPa which is greater than the 0.6MPa of standard value and the cost can be reduced approximate 19% than the original model.

The first working face production has suspend because of the great roof water inrush in Mindongyi coal mine, which has weak roof strata and mining use the fully mechanized caving method. In order to detect the height of water-flowing fractured zone, loses of drilling fluid observation method has carried on the flied test, the results showed that while the full-mechanized caving mining thickness is 7.7 m, the height of water-flowing fractured zone is 79.78 m, and the ratio of height to thickness is 10.36, meanwhile, the numerical simulation and similar material simulation have proved the test results are correct. The study enriched the domestic research fruits of the height of water flowing fractured zone, and provided technical references for Mindongyi coal mine mining.

Geomechanics model test has some distinctive advantages in simulating changing laws of stress and strain of rockmass as well as failure mechanism of surrounding rockmass of tunnel. In order to systematically study mechanics deformation properties of a large-scale offspur tunnel under excavation state, we design and manufacture a large scale 3D model test rack installation with hydraulic equipment. The test rack is 3.7 meters long, 2.2 meters wide and 4 meters high, which is the largest 3D geomechanics model test rack in present Chinese communication trades. The new-type similar material of model is a kind of cementitious composite which is mixed with iron ore powder, blanc fix, quartz sand, rosin, industrial alcohol and gypsum powder. 3D geomechanics model test for a large-scale offspur tunnel is carried out by utilizing the test installation and the similar material. The original design and construction of the offspur tunnel has been effectively optimized by results from model test.

It is very important to choose a similar material which simulates rock mass correctly in geo-mechanics model test. In this paper, we introduce similar material research status and analyze the principle of selecting and compounding. According to the experiences of similar material research, we develop a new similar material (we call it iron barites sand cementation material, abbreviate IBSCM) through hundreds of compounding experiment. This similar material is made up of iron ore powder, barites powder, sand, rosin, alcohol and gypsum powder. Iron ore powder, barites powder and sand are main materials, the solution of rosin and alcohol is glue, and gypsum powder is regulator. Specimen mechanics tests show that different rock mass can be simulated by the model materials with different materials compounding. The new similar material is easy to buy and its price is cheap, and it has some advantages, such as high density, stable performance, easy dryness, and easy cutting. The new similar material can simulate a lot of rock mass, so it is an ideal similar material. At last, we apply this new type similar material to tunnel geo-mechanical model test and gain the ideal result.

Corrosion resistance and durability are important performance features for grouting materials in underground engineering. The grouts based on ordinary Portland cement are difficult to solve water inrush disasters. To solve these problems, a new type of sulphoaluminate-cement-based Composite Grouting Material (CGM) has been developed. In this research, the chemical corrosion mechanism was analyzed, and the durability and anti-corrosion performance of CGM were studied under different concentrations of sulfate and chloride ions, steel slag contents and water/CGM (W/CGM) ratios. The flexural strength, compressive strength and corrosion resistance coefficient of CGM were measured in dependence of the days. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis was carried out to determine the anti-corrosion characteristic of CGM. The results showed that the corrosion resistance coefficients of CGM are generally larger than 1.0 under different sulfate and chloride ion concentrations. Steel slag prevents sulfate ions from penetrating the hardened stone body, and the anticorrosion performance of CGM was relatively low at high W/CGM ratios.
