Based on the analysis of 13,110 medical examinations performed on a standardized population of pneumoconiosis patients recorded on the F.O.D. computer file, the authors describe the value of the subjective estimations of »obesity«, »thinness« or »normal weight« by their correlation with the observed weight and height. Although there are striking differences in appreciation between the physicians performing the examinations, the qualifications »obese«, »thin« or »normal« correspond with real group differences in weight, between certain limits which can be defined. The ratio between the observed weight and the expected weight (using the Broca formula) shows the same pattern. In tins way it becomes possible to propose upper and lower limits for obesity, thinness and normal weight based on purely empiric data. Feeding back this information to the examining physicians should help reduce the differences between physicians and improve the results. Therefore, the authors find it useful to keep such information in the computer file.

While it is Derrida's late work on the ‘animal question’ that brought his insistence on limitrophy between species to wider attention, it is also named as the general condition of the limits in the much earlier text, ‘Tympan’. There, in dislocating the tympanum, the margins of philosophy are eaten. Equally, given the rhythmic address of the tympanum, we might say that the margins of philosophy are beaten. This paper considers the persistent play on rhythmic sounds in Lars von Trier's Dancer in the Dark as a ‘tympanising’ or derision of the limits, notably of the limits of the law in both juridical and symbolic senses, as they also work the edges of the film's two styles (broadly, realism and musical). In a provocative analysis of this film, Cary Wolfe suggests that we might understand Selma's vocal style (given singular expression by Bjork) as a refusal of the phallic imposition of language, and that her virtually suicidal submission to the death sentence allows for a notion of a ‘posthuman feminine’. ‘Tympan Alley’ redirects this tantalising term ‘posthuman feminine’ through a more consistently Derridean line of thought to sound out the implications of b/eating the limits through Selma's oblique ear.

The objective: to determine the efficacy of medicine «Menopace» in treatment of women with natural and surgical menopause. Patients and methods. 20 women (I group) with a natural menopause were examined (basic subgroup consisted of 10 patients who used Menopace for 3 months; control subgroup consisted of 10 patients). 20 women (II group) with surgical menopause were examined (basic subgroup consisted of 10 patients who received Menopace for 3 months; control subgroup consisted of 10 patients). Results. The average score of neurovegetative and emotional manifestations of climacteric syndrome during the observation period decreased in women with natural and surgical menopause who used Menopace, compared with subgroups of patients who had not used the medicine. Conclusions. 1. The use of the medicine Menopace in women with natural menopause after 3 months showed the disappearance of clinical symptoms of climacteric syndrome in 70% of the cases, and significant improvement in general condition in 30% of cases. 2. During surgical menopause after 1 month of treatment with Menopace manifestations of sweating were observed 4.5 times less often than in control group, tides were observed 7 times less often than in control group. Neurovegetative and psychoemotional symptoms of menopause were absent in 80% of women after 3 months of treatment and in 20% of cases significant improvement was shown. 3. The obtained results give grounds to recommend wide use of Menopace in practical work for the treatment of menopausal syndrome during natural and surgical menopause. Key words: menopause, therapy, Menopace.

AbstractAs a work of propaganda, graphics Austroseraphicum Coelum Paulus Pontius should create a new reality, make appearances. The main impression while seeing the graphics is the admiration for the power of Habsburgs, which interacts with the power of the Mother of God. She, in turn, refers the viewer to God, as well as Franciscans placed on the graphic, they become a symbol of the Church. This is a starting point for further interpretation of the drawing. By the presence of certain characters, allegories, symbols, we can see references to a particular political situation in the Netherlands - the war with the northern provinces of Spain. The message of the graphic is: the Spanish Habsburgs, commissioned by the mission of God, they are able to fight all of the enemies, especially Protestants, with the help of Immaculate and the Franciscans. The main aim of the graphic is to convince the viewer that this will happen and to create in his mind a vision of the new reality. But Spain was in the seventeenth century nothing but a shadow of former itself (in the time of Philip IV the general condition of Spain get worse). That was the reason why they wanted to hold the belief that the empire continues unwavering. The form of this work (graphics), also allowed to export them around the world, and the ambiguity of the symbolic system, its contents relate to different contexts, and as a result, the Habsburgs, not only Spanish, they could promote their strength everywhere. Therefore it was used very well as a single work of propaganda, as well as a part of a broader campaign

Abstract This paper deals with the determination of compressive strength of concrete. Cubes, cylinders and re-used test beams were tested. The concrete beams were first subjected to three-point or fourpoint bending tests and then used for determination of the compressive strength of concrete. Some concrete beams were reinforced, while others had no reinforcement. Accuracy of the experiments and calculations was verified in a non-linear analysis.
