Low-temperature transport properties were systemically studied for a series of (1 − x) La2/3Sr1/3MnO3 + xZrO2 (x = 0%, 3%, 6%, and 9%) matrix composites under low applied magnetic fields.

We report low-temperature magnetotransport in the normal state of the electron-doped superconductors, Nd 2-x Ce x CuO 4, Pr 2-x Ce x CuO 4, and La 2-x Ce x CuO 4, by suppressing the superconductivity with high magnetic fields. The normal state ρ-T curve shows an up-turn at low temperatures, which has a log T dependence with saturation at lowest temperatures. The up-turn is gradually suppressed with increasing magnetic field, resulting in negative magnetoresistance. We discuss these findings on the basis of the Kondo scattering originating from the magnetic moments of Cu 2+ ions.

Low-temperature resistivity, Seebeck coefficient, thermal conductivity, and heat-capacity measurements were performed on Ba8Ga16Sn30. This compound crystallizes in a cubic type-VIII clathrate phase, space group I¯43m, with the Baatoms residing inside voids created by a tetrahedrally bonded network of Ga andSn atoms. Ba8Ga16Sn30 exhibits semiconducting behavior above 150 K with a low thermal conductivity and thus may hold potential for thermoelectric applications.

The low-temperature electronic transport behavior of under doped polycrystalline Pr0.8Sr0.2MnO3 (PSMO) manganitenanoparticles (down to 40 nm), have been investigated in the presence of applied external magnetic fields (Hext) and adistinct resistivity minimum (ρmin) is observed below 50 K for each PSMO sample. It has been found that both depth of ρmin, and temperature of resistivity minima (min T ) values enhance with increase of Hext. Considering various possibilities likeCoulomb blockade theory, electron-electron interaction, phase separation, Kondo mechanism, we conclude thatoccurrence of low temperature resistivity anomalies (<min T ) in PSMO manganite system is presumably due to acombined effect of electron-electron interaction (~T1/2) and 3D weak localization (WL) mechanism. The proposed modelcan explain spin dependent scattering phenomena in disorder background of correlated manganite system and behaviorof various fit parameters responsible for low temperature resistivity anomalies under external magnetic fields.
