An efficient one-pot cascade process via unprecedented quadruple cleavage of BrCF2COOEt with primary amines to afford valuable fluorine-containing heterocycles is described, in which BrCF2COOEt plays a dual role as a C1 synthon and a difluoroalkylating reagent for the first time.

One-pot three-component condensation of isatoic anhydride with primary amines or ammonium carbonate and aromatic aldehydes in refluxing ethanol in the presence of catalytic amounts of silica-supported preyssler nanoparticles (SPNP) afforded the corresponding 2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4(1H)-ones in high yields, and bis-dihydroquinazolinones were synthesized for the first time by a novel pseudo-five-component condensation of isatoic anhydride, a primary amine, and a dialdehyde in water. The catalyst is reusable and can be applied several times without any decrease in product yield.

The one-pot three-component synthesis of 2-amino-4H-chromenes was accomplished by supramolecular catalysis with well-designed amino-appended β-cyclodextrins (ACDs) in water, while the key role of amino side chains in chemoselectivity was determined for the first time.

Novel Zn (II) phthalocyanine and naphthalocyanine DBU complexes have been prepared in a one-pot synthesis reacting phthalonitrile precursors with an excess of DBU (1,8-diazabicyclo[5.4.0]undec-7-ene). For the first time, it has been well evidenced that DBU played the role of coordinating axial ligand together with the well known role of strong base. Also, DBU complexes showed better solubility in organic solvents due to the coordination of the bulky axial DBU ligand, compared to the Zn (II) phthalocyanines and naphthalocyanines without coordinated DBU. The coordinating properties of DBU toward ZnPcs (DBU free) complexes have also been investigated along with the ZnPc (pyridine) complex. Thermal analysis results reflecting the stability of the synthesized complexes under air are also presented.

While the amination of primary alcohols to amines is quite normal, the reverse reaction, deamination of amines to alcohols is rare. Recent advances achieve the transformation by catalytic multistep processes. We report a one-pot method that enables water nucleophilic attack of amines through the unique catalytic role of hydrothermal water. By achieving dehydrogenation of amines or building targeting group, we fulfilled amines transformation by subsequent reduction or direct deamination, which could further link to the utilization of naturally abundant glutamic acid. The method avoids oxidants, catalysts or multistep, thus achieves simple, green and selective transformation of primary amines.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to develop a slack-based measure (SBM) model in the presence of dual-role factor. Then it is applied in supplier selection problem. Design/methodology/approach – The developed model in this paper is based on data envelopment analysis (DEA) technique. Findings – The proposed evaluation platform is capable of identifying ill-performing suppliers which seek to future improvement. The findings provide valuable insights for practitioners, as well as academicians, policy makers and also integrate selection criteria under the supply chain. Originality/value – This is the first time that a non-radial DEA model considers dual-role factors. The proposed model does not deal with dual-role factor as a non-discretionary factor. The proposed model considers dual-role factors on both the input and output sides in a similar manner. The proposed model can fully measure the inefficiency of suppliers. The proposed model can give a complete ranking of suppliers.
