Ultrasound-assisted oxidative desulfurization (UAODS) of diesel fuel in H2O2/Heteropoly acid/Solvent systems, was investigated. Effects of solvent, catalyst, ultrasound and reaction temperature on the oxidation desulfurization of diesel fuel were investigated. When MPA/oil was 2%wt, methanol/diesel fuel was 20%wt, ultrasound power was 400 W and ultrasound time was 10 min, the sulfur content of diesel fuel was decreased from 211 ppm to 19 ppm. The use of ultrasonic irradiation in H2O2/Heteropoly acid/Solvent system significantly improved the efficiency of the oxidation reaction, and solvent was helpful to make the oxidative reaction happen in the same one phase.

A novel one-pot catalytic synthesis of 1-benzoylpyrene through acylation of pyrene with benzoyl chloride catalyzed by various Keggin type heteropoly acids (salts) was investigated. Pure 1-benzoylpyrene was obtained and the structure of 1-benzoylpyrene was identified by GC/MS, FT-IR and 1H NMR spectra. H3PW12O40 (PW) was found to be the most active catalyst in the acylation. The yield and the selectivity of 1-benzoylpyrene were up to 97.6 % and 100 %, respectively. The effects of experimental parameters on the catalytic acylation reaction and the recycling performance of PW catalyst were studied. PW catalyst shows well catalytic activity after running for 5 times. The facile product separation and the recycling performance of PW catalyst is expected to contribute to the development of clean and environmentally friendly strategy for the synthesis of 1-benzoylpyrene.

The heteropoly acid catalyst of H5PMo10V2O40 supported on SBA-15 mesoporous mole-cular sieve was prepared by an impregnation method and characterized by nitrogen physisorption, FT-IR,SEM, and used in catalytic synthesis of tributyl citrate. The results show that the heteropoly acid catalyst has fine dispersion characteristics, structural stability, high catalytic activity and better reusability.

Ruthenium is one of the rare elements that belongs to the platinum group metals. Ruthenium is very effective hardener for platinum and palladium. Well studied coordination and organometallic chemistry of ruthenium results in a various varieties of compounds. There are various features of ruthenium such as oxidation states, coordination numbers and geometries. Ruthenium compounds have various applications and also have low toxicity and they are ideal for the catalytic synthesis of drugs. The field of ruthenium chemistry is very broad and is extremely diverse in the field of catalysis and medicinal chemistry. This review article shows a classical general chemistry of ruthenium compounds.
