  Industri farmasi merupakan salah satu jenis industri yang banyak menggunakan beban non-linier, khususnya variable speed drive (VSD). VSD umum digunakan sebagai penggerak motor listrik untuk pompa, kompresor atau blower yang banyak digunakan dalam berbagai proses di industri farmasi. Namun perlu diperhatikan bahwa penggunaan VSD dapat membawa dampak buruk terhadap sistem daya listrik di industri bersangkutan. Salah satunya adalah permasalahan kualitas daya berupa munculnya harmonisa pada sistem daya listrik. Berdasarkan data pengukuran lapangan, harmonisa arus pada sistem distribusi daya listrik untuk unit AHU dari sebuah industri farmasi yang dipilih sebagai objek studi masih berada di bawah standar IEEE 519-1992. Nilai total harmonic distortion arus (THDi) yang terukur mencapai kisaran 40% – 50% dengan harmonisa ke-5, ke-7 dan ke-11 merupakan orde-orde harmonisa yang dominan. Simulasi dengan perangkat lunak ETAP menunjukkan nilai THDi sebesar 44,15% dengan spektrum yang mirip dengan data pengukuran lapangan. Perbedaan antara nilai THDi yang berdasarkan pengukuran lapangan dan simulasi mencapai kisaran 3% saja. Hasil simulasi dapat memverifikasi hasil pengukuran lapangan.

This study implements the auto start control system on an electric motor 3 phase C4Feeding pump when the discharge pressure is low-low (4.3 kg /cm²). The C4 feeding pumpmotor was initially manually operated from the local control station, this was very ineffectiveand inefficient because it still relied on the field operator to operate the pump motor and whenthe plant was in normal operating it is very risk if the field operator late to operate motor then itwill impact to quality of the product, and if the delay time to operate motor is too long then planthave to shut down, therefore improvement is needed in the C4 feeding pump motor controlsystem. In this paper, various types of 3-phase motor control are explained which allow it to beapplied to the C4 feeding pump motor that are on-off, inverter, and variable speed drive andefficient selection of the three systems control of the motor. Software and hardware used in thisthesis work are DCS CENTUM VP Yokogawa.

Electric variable speed drives (VSD) have been replacing mechanic and hydraulic systems in many sectors of industry and transportation because of their better performance and reduced cost. However, the electric systems still face the issue of being considered less reliable than the mechanical ones. For this reason, researchers have been actively investigating effective ways to increase the reliability of such systems. This paper is focused on the analysis of the common-mode voltage (CMV) generated by the operation of the VSDs which directly affects to the lifetime and reliability of the complete system. The method is based on the mathematical description of the harmonic spectrum of the CMV depending on the PWM method implementation. A generalized PWM method where the carriers present a variable phase-displacement is developed. As a result of the presented analysis, the CMV reduction is achieved by applying the PWM method with optimal carrier phase-displacement angles without any external component and/or passive filtering technique. The optimal values of the carrier phase-displacement angles are obtained considering the minimization of the CMV total harmonic distortion. The resulting method is easily implementable on mostly off-the-shelf mid-range micro-controller control platforms. The strategy has been evaluated in a scaled-down experimental setup proving its good performance.
