The paper focuses on the development of a mathematical model for scheduling electric power system (EPS) states for the medium-term period divided into several time intervals. The model allows calculating the equilibrium state in the EPS, in which each supplier receives the maximum profit from the electricity supply to the wholesale market. The price levels in the EPS are determined by finding the maximum value of the social welfare given the balance constraints at the EPS nodes and the constraints on feasible state variables over several time intervals. Approaches to solving the multi-interval problem of search for an equilibrium states are considered. The approaches involve building a system of joint optimality conditions for electricity suppliers in the considered time intervals. The equilibrium state is found either by directly solving such a system or through an iterative search. The paper demonstrates the results of the medium-term scheduling of the state by an example of a simplified electric power system.. electric power system..

The present paper discusses the integration as well as contribution of doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) based wind turbines in load frequency control (LFC) of the modern electric power system in order to supply the quality as well as pollution free electric power to the modern customers. In addition the control areas are connected via HVDC tie-line in parallel with EHVAC line with diverse sources i.e. hydro, thermal and gas based power generations in each area. Efforts have been made to propose an optimal LFC design based on the feedback of few state variables which are available for the measurement and contains good information of the complete power system. The LFC design based on few states are implemented and the obtained results are presented to show the LFC enhancement considering DFIG and parallel HVDC/EHVAC lines. Atlast, the beauty and effectiveness of LFC based on few states are compared with LFC design depends on all system states under similar working conditions and the application results are presented.

Electric power system reliability evaluation depends on reasonable target setting and calculation. This article mainly analyses the new index of power system reliability assessment in the electricity market environment, and on the basis of this, introduces the application of uncertain linguistic information in the ceremony system reliability evaluation, representing original parameters with uncertain number, and random processing fault condition happened and transfer events and process.

The paper considers mechanisms for organizing free trade in the electricity market that are based on submitting bids of energy consumers and producers to the market operator. The authors discuss and compare possible strategies of generator behavior that lead to different equilibrium situations and correspond to Cournot model and the models of supply function equilibria, and a perfectly competitive equilibrium. The mechanisms are tested on the basis of the Siberian electric power system.

Globalization and sustainable development necessitate joint analysis of technological and environmental trends in energy development taking into account current economic and legal provisions. Based on synthesis of the current state of Ukrainian electric power system in general and hydropower in particular, there have been underscored the importance of comprehensive approach in identifying the key tasks of building the pathway of further electric power industry development. The authors provide the characteristics of today’s organizational and technological structure of the electric power system, including the legal provisions regulating its activity. As currently there are significant legislative changes, particular attention was paid to the review of electricity market. Features of the new liberalized electricity market have been determined in comparison with the current market, and also in connection with renewable energy characteristics. Thus, amendments introduced by the new Law “On electricity market” to the green tariff policy have been detailed with the regard to incentive mechanism for development of renewable energy and liability of electricity producers operating under Green Tariff for imbalances. The article focuses on the analysis of the state and growth potential of small hydropower. Еconomic incentives are systematized according to the current legislation. Also, here is presented the potential for possible growth of small hydropower, namely, quantitative result of the exploration of the technical potential of hydropower resources of small rivers. There have been identified a number of barriers and impediments to the construction of small HPPs. Environmental restrictions to the construction of small hydropower stations have been formulated according to the accurate analysis of various branches of national legislation such as the Land Code, the Water Code, the Law “On the Nature Reserve Fund of Ukraine”, etc., as well as valid ratified documents and other key soft-low instruments at the international level. Additionally, provisions of Сustoms and Tax legislation on small hydropower regarding to incentives for technology development have been defined. Consideration of small hydropower projects successfully implemented on the territory of the country confirms the possibility of the future development of small hydropower.
