The objective of this article is to investigate the line-of-sight (LOS) and visual areas in order to provide a lower risk of accident and a best available view for the operator of industry machine. This paper presented a method of simulating an bulldozer operation in a virtual environment for the sake of analyzing LOS of the operator during conditions of load and unload respectively. Coverage zone tool in the JACK software was utilized to calculate the percentage of visible zones from the virtual operator’s position. At the same time, the modification of design with additional cameras was proposed based on the results of LOS analysis, which significantly improved compared with original design. The results of this study proved that the modifications (with visual monitoring system) could improve visibility of bulldozer operators to some extent according to the optimization method.

Recently, in the loading tests for steel members, the deformation value is measured by calculating a distance of both cross-heads. This measuring method encounters a test error due to various environmental factors, such as initial slip, etc.. Especially, in the case of welded members, the non-uniform deformation behavior in welded joints is observed because of the effect of welding residual stress and weld metal. This is mainly responsible for a test error and a loss of the reliability for used test instruments. Therefore, to improve the accuracy and the applicability of measuring system, it is necessary to employ a visual monitoring system which can accurately measure the local and overall deformation of welded members. In this paper, to accurately measure a deformation of welded members, a visual monitoring system (VMS) was developed by using three-dimensional digital photogrammetry. The VMS was applied to the loading tests of a welded member. The accuracy and the applicability of VMS was verified by comparing to the deformation value measured by a test instrument (MTS-810). The characteristics of the behavior near a welded joint were investigated by using VMS.

Abstract The article presents the use of video monitoring in a production company on the example of municipal thermal power plant. After analyzing the hazards and work inconvenience occurring in the analyzed enterprise, video surveillance zones have been designated with the division into the indoor and outdoor monitoring system. Video surveillance is provided for production, auxiliary and delivery processes. Moreover, video monitoring performs a control function over the occupation health in workstations at risk of explosion or fire. In addition, observation points have been set up in the visual monitoring system, among which the internal ones are served by the dispatcher responsible for the production process, while the external are operated by security guards of the facility.
