AbstractThe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has forced primary/grade schools and university closings as well as forced the suspension of a number of medical and laboratory testing procedures. Exercise science laboratories whether in clinical, research or educational locations were also forced to pause testing procedures. As the COVID-19 pandemic begins to subside in some areas of the world, exercise science laboratories are contemplating how to create a safe environment to resume some laboratory testing activities. In this article, we present suggestions for how exercise science laboratories can open and create a safe environment for subjects, laboratory personnel and equipment upon reopening.

Paper reports research on dynamic system characteristics of snow skis. Laboratory and field measurements of frequency response, running surface pressure excitation, and static system characteristics are intended to provide a data base of physical information to guide future design and research. Laboratory testing procedures used give meaningful information for “straight running” but not for “turning.” In general, the turning and straight running maneuvers must be examined independently. This paper summarizes the general research observations with a minimum of detail included.

Intellectual property behind the scenery of clinical research present a very special issue in scientific field presenting a deep underestimation of the main precious production of scientific researchers – production of mind, intellect, knowledge, clinical practice and research. In this article are highlighted main questions the young researches and not only young ones face while generating ideas, developing into nice projects. In this topic are discussed the main types of intellectual property in clinical research with a short introduction how the law protects them on a national level and why intellectual property is important for every clinical scientist. The literature review is closely intertwined with our own observations over the years in terms of intellectual property. Finally, the main benefits of intellectual property protection for clinical researchers will be presented empowering with new contacts and scientific innovation leaders from other places of the world.

Acute confusion or delirium is an acute brain syndrome, which may be transient and reversible. Key features are a clouding of consciousness and difficulty registering or making sense of new information. Nursing management includes managing confused thoughts by keeping communication clear, brief, and to the point, encouraging correct orientation, responding to distress, listening to the patient’s concerns, and ensuring the safety of the patient. Psychoses are disorders of thought, feeling, and perception that lead to difficulties relating to self, other people, and the world at large. They are rarely encountered in the cancer care setting, but they are distressing and difficult to manage when they are. It is important to engage the patient and maintain a safe environment. Incidents of violence and aggression are relatively uncommon, but distressing. It is important to identify the causes, e.g. frustration, fear, or confusion, and to respond to the person, but set limits and ensure safety. Alcohol misuse is associated with many health problems. Nurses should recognize the effects of hazardous drinking and alcohol dependence, and advise the patient on sources of support.

During eight years of systematic experimentation a comprehensive conditioning test procedure has been developed which may be useful for psychiatric clinical research. The procedure consists of seven conditioning techniques employed in eleven testing procedures, each requiring about 30 minutes to complete and measuring a total of 12 experimental variables. With this battery of tests significant differences were found between a normal population and a chronic schizophrenic population. The functional ability to extinguish an autonomic OR was found to be impaired in the schizophrenic group, together with an impairment of ‘integrational’ functions, such as generalization, differentiation and delay — all inhibitory functions. Without exception, the autonomic component of the word association response preceded the verbal one in our schizophrenic group. The first clinical, psychopharmacological application of this battery of tests is in progress.

Most primary grade teachers will admit that they are concerned about helping young children build concepts which are mathematically correct. It is upon these early concepts that a child builds and broadens his ideas regarding the quantitative aspects of the world around him.

At the 2013 annual meeting of the Group for Research and Assessment of Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis (GRAPPA) in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, 26 dermatology and rheumatology fellows engaged in psoriasis or psoriatic arthritis research were invited to present their work at the Trainees Symposium, which preceded the annual meeting and was also attended by GRAPPA members from around the world. Herein, we provide a brief overview of the 6 oral presentations and 25 posters presented, which reflect the focus and diversity of current basic and clinical research in psoriatic disease.
