The emergence of cuprates as a high Tc superconductor gave high hopes in the discovery of a room temperature superconductor. It is almost three decades and the highest critical temperature attained on the cuprates is about 135K. A brief overview was conducted on the progress made so far on the cuprates. A mathematical approach was used to design a formula which could determine the experimental results of critical temperature of versed cuprates superconductors. The result of our findings shows that the possibility of attaining the experimental room temperature cuprates superconductor seems very narrow. The study recommended an elaborate approach on the hybridization of cuprates for future research. Hence, there is possibility of having cuprates with wide engineering application.

A large positive magnetoresistivity (up to ten percent or more) is observed for both under-doped and over-doped superconducting La 2-x Sr x CuO 4 epitaxial thin films at temperatures far above the superconducting critical temperature T c . This magnetoresistivity can be related to the pairs eventually forming the superconducting phase at low temperatures. Our observations support the idea of a close relation between the pseudogap and the superconducting gap and provide new indications for the presence of pre-pairs above T c .

ABSTRACTThin-films of YBa2Cu3O7 (YBCO) superconductor precursor were synthesized using an electrodeposition process. The YBCO precursor thin films were deposited on Ag foils using pulsed potential deposition conditions of 10 s at - 4 V and 10 s at -1 V (versus Ag reference electrode). The post-annealed films showed zero electrical resistance at 60 K. The procedures for the fabrication of a high precision micro-sensor using YBCO superconductor for measurement of weak magnetic fields are outlined. The micro-sensor templates were patterned using X-rays and precursor films were deposited into the features.
