An accurate determination of the “time-of-flight” in swarm experiments with a parallel plate drift chamber requires that the time evolution of the charge induced on the collector is linear. This is obtained in very large chambers where the edge effects can be neglected. However, the experimental conditions of high-mobility carriers and highly pressurized gases impose some constraints on the acceptable drift cell dimensions. We have numerically calculated the effects of the finite size of the collector by exploiting the methods of the images. The numerical results have been experimentally checked using a suitable drift cell of variable geometry. As a result, a quantitative limit on the ratio between the collector radius and the drift distance has been established in order to design drift cells for which the edge effects can be neglected. Abstract Up to date concept of warfare is characterized by a high mobility of units, in spite of this counter-mobility is currently disregarded. However, military engineers try to keep and develop this capability. One of the most important elements for the development in the field of counter-mobility is man-made obstacles effectiveness evaluation. The process of evaluation is applicable to the obstacle employment design, to the estimation of a battle progress as well as to the development of mine-laying means, including mines and explosives for obstacle creating. The article is focused on determination of the appropriate obstacles effectiveness evaluation criteria. The criteria can be applied within planning of barriers as well as other complexes of obstacles (obstacle areas, zones, belts), which allows to optimize the engagement of engineer units and means to fulfil the engineer tasks.

BACKGROUND. Despite the decline of incidence and mortality from tuberculosis (ТB) in Ukraine, the incidence of the pulmonary TB relapses (RTB) remains high. Description of them is an original mirror that represents weak links in realization of antituberculosis measures (ATBM). OBJECTIVE. To summarize an achievement and define complicated questions in relation to the estimation of the real state with RTB in Ukraine, determination of reasons of their origin with the aim of overcoming of TB. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Generalization, analysis and synthesis of scientific publications of the Ukrainian scientists in the last few years. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION. The following problems were detected: a lack of funding of ATBM; a concealment of frequency of RTB from the wide circle of public; absence of near-term in realization of ATBM depending on their profitability and efficiency. Clinical researches in relation to RTB, that is mainly touch upon to diagnosis and development of charts of treatment of patients with RTB, are certain especially, some reasons of RTB are side considered. CONCLUSIONS. Basic directions of scientific researches it is been determination of features of clinical flow of RTB, study of especially clinical reasons of their origin. Presently there is not an integral picture in relation to reasons of origin and organization of warning of RTB. It is however not revealed the all-embracing, systematized reasons of origin of RTB, without that it is impossible to develop organizational measures in relation to their warning with the aim of liquidation of TB according to strategy of WHO – End TB.
