<em>Multi-phase machines are considered serious contenders as compared to the three phase machines for variable applications in generating mode. </em><em>This paper presents the transient performance analysis of a multi-phase induction machine operating in six-phase mode for power generation. In this paper the simulation and experimental analysis of a six-phase machine in generating mode have been made. The simulations are made and the machine functionality was investigated during no-load and when subjected to different types of loads. Experimental results are provided to confirm the ability of these models to represent during no load as well as during load period and the result were found to be satisfactory for power generation</em>.

Now a day’s different types of solar flat plate collectors are in use. Out of which only few type of collectors proved their performance by producing better results of expected level. In this paper a new set of collectors are combined as mean to improve performance of series SFPC collectors available in market now a days. In such new combination a collector with reduced overall loss coefficient was used to improve the efficiency of the existing system. New collector with zig-zag flow pattern gives a slight change in flow path. Thus the objective of this experimental analysis is to improve efficiency with new set of series FPC by comparing with existing series FPC. Experimental results obtained give better and higher results suggested by theoretical analysis.

AbstractDetermination of 14C, 55Fe, 63Ni and gamma emitters in two different types of activated reactor pressure vessel (RPV) steel samples were carried out. The gamma emitters were analysed using HPGe detectors with ISOCS and standard geometry calibrations. Two radioanalytical procedures for the 14C, 55Fe, 63Ni analysis were developed using inactive samples and activated samples were analysed using modified procedures. A Monte Carlo code was used for the modelling of the activation results. The obtained measured and calculated results were comparable.

In this paper, we address the “Tragedy of the Commons” (TOC) problem for shared-resource systems by considering different types of behaviors of agents. On one extreme are self-interested agents while on the other one, agents are concerned about the welfare of the society. Algorithms to capture the different behaviors of the agents with and without interaction among the agents are proposed. An extensive experimental analysis for the different cases has been carried out as well as comparisons of our algorithms with an existing approach. Our study shows that if the agents are willing to sacrifice for some period of time, the sustainability of the society increases considerably.

This paper presents theoretical and experimental analysis of two types of circular hydrostatic thrust bearings, using incompressible lubricants. Design equations for load-carrying capacity, stiffness, and flow, are given for three different types of flow restriction—orifice, capillary, and constant flow. Experimental verification of the equations is shown. It is seen that each method of restriction imparts its own characteristics on the bearing performance. Constant flow, for instance, results in the stiffest bearing under certain conditions, and capillary restriction is unaffected by temperature changes.

The paper covers the research and development of piezoelectric traveling wave actuators using different types of the waveguides. The introduced piezoelectric actuators can be characterized by specific areas of application, different resolution, and torque. All presented actuators are ultrasonic resonant devices and they were developed to increase amplitudes of the traveling wave oscillations of the contact surface. Three different waveguides are introduced, that is, symmetrical, asymmetrical, and cone type waveguide. A piezoelectric ring with the sectioned electrodes is used to excite traveling wave oscillations for all actuators. Operating principle, electrode pattern, and excitation regimes of piezoelectric actuators are described. A numerical modelling of the actuators was performed to validate the operating principle and to calculate trajectories of the contact points motion. Prototype actuators were made and experimental study was performed. The results of numerical and experimental analysis are discussed.
