The issue of attrition of longer-term cross-cultural workers is a critical and multifaceted one. We define attrition in its broadest sense as departure from field service by missionaries, regardless of cause. However, our prime concerns related to attrition themes speak to the causes of premature or painful departure from field service. We discovered major attrition variants between newer sending countries (NSC) and older sending countries (OSC). Lessons must be learned from both categories as mission stakeholder groups grapple with their own roles in addressing the causes of attrition as well as reducing it.

Objective: To develop a mentor-supervised, interprofessional, geriatric telemedicine experiential education project in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: Medical and pharmacy students collaborated via remote consultations to address the coexistence of multimorbidity and polypharmacy in geriatric patients. In-depth interviews of students and patients as well as Likert scale-based telephonic survey were performed for a comprehensive evaluation of the project’s significance. Results: To date, 49 consultations have been conducted. Remote consultations performed by medical and pharmacy students working collaboratively were beneficial for both students, participants. Conclusions and Practice Implications: This experimental education project provided students with authentic challenges while simultaneously delivering care to the older adults who are susceptible to disruption of care associated with the pandemic. Further development and expanded implementation of such approaches may be a post-pandemic practice to provide more accessible care for senior patients while incorporating interprofessional education.

Gypsum and slurry with high content of Cl- lead to the damage of desulfurization pump caused by erosion and corrosion. Gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) and shield metal arc welding (SMAW) were employed to develop weld repairing technology. High-velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF) spraying was employed to prepare NiCr cermet coating and WC cermet coating against erosion and corrosion. Microstructures and mechanical properties of the weld and the protective coatings were tested. The mechanical properties of the weld joints with duplex microstructure were in accordance with related standards. The technology of HVOF sprayed NiCr cermet coating was selected to prolong the service lifetime and was applied on the pump casing and impeller repaired by using the weld repairing procedures developed in this study. The integrity of the pump parts after 30 months in-field service confirmed the reliability of the repairing technology and the protection technology.
