The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C10H8N2·C8H6O4, consists of one half-molecule of each moiety, 4,4′-bipyridine (bpy) and terephthalic acid (bdc), both being located on crystallographic inversion centers. They are linked together via strong intermolecular O—H...N hydrogen bonds, forming infinite chains propagating along [1-21]. The chains are further connected through C—H...O interactions giving sheets in (012). The sheets are linked via π–π interactions between the bpy rings and the bdc–bpy rings [centroid–centroid distances = 3.690 (2) and 3.869 (2) Å], resulting in the formation of a three-dimensional supramolecular layer-like structure.

Two new Zn (II) coordination polymers with 3-nitrobenzoato ligands have been prepared, and their structures have been characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction techniques. The structure of [Zn (3-nbz)2(μ-4,4'-bpy)]n(1) (3-nbz = 3-nitrobenzoato, 4,4'-bpy = 4,4'-bipyridine) shows 1-D chains originating from terminal 3-nbz ligands andμ-4,4'-bpy molecules. The chains are further connected through face-to-face π stacking interactions to genenate a 2-D supramolecular layer. In Zn (3-nbz)2(2,2'-bpy) (2) (2,2'-bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine), carboxylate groups exhibit chelated bidentate to give discrete mononuclear units, which are linked by face-to-face π-π and C-H···π interactions to produce a 1-D supramolecular chain.

In the title compound, C27H15NO6·0.5CHCl3, the central pyran ring and both the benzopyran systems are planar, with the dihedral angle between the outer rings being 3.24 (6)°. The indolin-2-one system is in a perpendicular configuration with respect to the pyran ring [dihedral angle = 87.58 (2)°]. Supramolecular layers in theacplane are formed in the crystal structure whereby inversion-related molecules are connected by N—H...O hydrogen bonds. These are further linked by C—H...O interactions, forming a supramolecular layer in theacplane. Disordered CHCl3solvent in the structure was modelled with the SQUEEZE routine inPLATON[Spek (2009).Acta Cryst.D65, 148–155].

In the title compound, [Pb(C8H4O4)(C24H16N2)] n , the benzene-1,4-dicarboxylate (1,4-BDC) dianions link the PbII atoms to form a chain structure. The PbII atom is coordinated by 4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline (L) and is also bonded to four 1,4-BDC O atoms, resulting in a very distorted cis-PbN2O4 octahedron. There are two 1,4-BDC half-anions in the asymmetric unit, both completed by inversion. Aromatic π–π stacking between L ligands in adjacent chains results in a two-dimensional supramolecular layer structure [minimum centroid–centroid separation 3.464 (5) Å].

In the title compound, C13H13ClO4, the dihedral angle between the chlorobenezene ring and the least-squares plane through the 4-methoxy-2-oxobut-3-enoate ethyl ester residue (r.m.s. deviation = 0.0975 Å) is 54.10 (5)°. In the crystal, molecules are connected by methoxy–ketone and benzene–carboxylate carbonyl C—H...O interactions, generating a supramolecular layer in theacplane.
