The first impression of robot appearance normally affects the interaction with physical robots. Hence, it is critically important to evaluate the humanoid robot appearance design. This study towards evaluating humanoid robot design based on global eye-tracking metrics. Two methods are selected to extract global eye-tracking metrics, including bin-analysis-based entropy and approximate entropy. The data are collected from an eye-tracking experiment, where 20 participants evaluate 12 humanoid robot appearance designs with their eye movements recorded. The humanoid robots are evaluated from five aspects, namely smartness, friendliness, pleasure, arousal, and dominance. The results show that the entropy of fixation duration and velocity, approximate entropy of saccades amplitude are positively associated with the subjective feelings induced by robot appearance. These findings can aid in better understanding the first impression of human-robot interaction and enable the eye-tracking-based evaluation of humanoid robot design. By combining the theory of design and bio-signals analysis, the study contributes to the field of Transdisciplinary Engineering.

AbstractA coping failure in a child may psychologically influence his or her growth and developmental process. Many factors can play a role in an ability of child to cope with problems, specifically factors from the child and from the environment. In addition, types of stressor can affect the pattern of a child coping mechanism. To oversee factors may support a child to cope constructively with the stressors. Fear, loss, and death are normal stressors for a child. A child may demonstrate a variety of respons to deal with the stressors depend on the level of age (related to a growth and development process), child perception and reaction, and parenteral supports. A nurses is in a well prepared position to assist a child in dealing with problems at home, school environment, hospital or community, so the child will be able to cope positively. Keywords: Coping process, child stressors, child attitude and behavior related responses, support system, defense mechanism.

Humanoid robots are used fortraining purposes, personal assistance, understanding the human body structure and behavior, health care field, entertainment field, military purposes, space explorations, etc. Kinematic analysis plays a crucial role in the development of a humanoid robot. This paper presents the kinematic, workspace and static analysis of a Humanoid upper body robot. The forward kinematic model is obtained by using Screw theory. Screw theory provides the complete description of the system than the Denavit- Hartenberg (DH) method. Screw theory decreases the chances of occurrences of singularities inside the workspace. The joint angles in the upper body are obtained by using cubic spline trajectory method. The proposed torso and arm design can imitate the human body postures. The humanoid robot is designed with 3 Dofs in the torso, 2 Dofs in the neck and 5 Dofs in each arm. The two arms are designed with identical joints.

AbstractThe target article by Boyer & Petersen (B&P) contributes a vital message: that people have folk economic theories that shape their thoughts and behavior in the marketplace. This message is all the more important because, in the history of economic thought, Homo economicus was increasingly stripped of mental capacities. Intuitive theories can help restore the mind of Homo economicus.
