This paper examines a case study of the selection of nine airstrip sites in the coastal area of Labrador. The procedure used involved the procurement of better mapping for the site selection process. The benefits of this process are examined in the context of the data requirements for good airstrip selection. The site selection process is then examined utilizing state of the art digital mapping and computerized geometric design techniques.

Evaluating the site-selection process for photovoltaic (PV) plants is essential for securing available areas for solar power plant installation in limited spaces. Although the vicinities of highway networks can be suitable for installing PV plants, in terms of economic feasibility, they have rarely been investigated because the impacts of various factors, including geographic or weather patterns, have not been analyzed. In this respect, this study conducts a case study on selecting the site for PV-panel installation in the vicinity of a highway (e.g., slopes) by integrating geographic information system (GIS) and building information model (BIM) techniques. Using location (e.g., highways, lakes, rivers), monthly solar power output, and orographic (e.g., slope) data, suitable regions are identified with the geo-spatial analysis; then, the amount of power that can be generated is evaluated in the regions. For the proposed sites, the surface conditions and potential PV systems are transformed and visualized in a BIM environment. In the results, the power output at optimal sites selected from the case area was computed at a total of 8227 MWh and was transformed into solar-panel families in three-dimensional environments. Thus, this study may help to identify optimal sites for PV plants in the unused areas near highways.

Landfill site selection is a complex task that needs to be done by decision maker. There are many criteria that need to be considered before choosing the landfill. This includes economic, social, geological and environmental criteria. AHP is a technique for analyzing and supporting decisions in which multiple and competing objectives are involved and multiple alternatives are available. By using Analytical Hierarchical Process (AHP), the process of landfill site selection had become easier. In this method, the problem need to be divided into hierarchy before the pair wise comparison and made it prioritize accordingly. Then, the judgment will be synthesized and finally, the evaluation and consistency of judgment were checked. As a result, lists of criterion were arranged according to its priority, which is more dominant to economic aspect and less dominant to social aspect. This is on account of social matters can be solved alternatively by different systems. This landfill site selection process involved lots of spatial data and strenuous in handling it. Thus, by using GIS, it can give significant helps to solve this issue because of its potential in handling large volume of spatial data that needs to be evaluates and processed. This particular research used Johor Bahru, Johor for case study area.

Tidal fats resources is an important resource in coastal areas of China, which shows a trend of dynamic growth. Ratonal development and efectve utlizaton of tdal fats resources can alleviate the contradicton between more people and less land in China, and is of great signifcance to the development of coastal economy and the protecton of ecological environment in China. Taking Yancheng Tidal Flats of Coastal Areas as an example, analyzes the present situaton of development and utlizaton and the existng problems at the present stage. Relying on the existng industrial foundaton, this paper puts forward the development and utlizaton model of strengthening the constructon of port-neighboring industry, towns and ecological leisure tourism on the basis of modern agriculture
