Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) is a medical condition where the retina is damaged because fluid leaks from blood vessels into the retina. Ophthalmologists recognize diabetic retinopathy based on features, such as blood vessel area, exudes, hemorrhages, microaneurysms and texture. Aim: The focus of this paper is to evaluate the performance of Decision Tree (DT), Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Probabilistic Neural Network (PNN) Classifiers in Diabetes Retinopathy Detection. Results: Corresponding results showed SVM has the best classification strength by achieving Recognition Accuracy (RA) of 98.50%, while PNN and DT achieved RA of 97.60% and 89.20% respectively. In terms of False Acceptance Rate (FAR) and False Rejection Rate (FRR), SVM has the least values of 7.21, 8.10 while DT and PNN showed 11.10, 9.30 and 13.21, 10.10 respectively. However, in this paper a Mobile based Diabetes Retinopathy Detection System was developed to make the system available for the masses for early detection of the disease.

Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) is a microvascular complication of Diabetes that can lead to blindness if it is severe. Microaneurysm (MA) is the initial and main symptom of DR. In this paper, an automatic detection of DR from retinal fundus images of publicly available dataset has been proposed using transfer learning with pre-trained model VGG16 based on Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). Our method achieves improvement in accuracy for MA detection using retinal fundus images in prediction of Diabetic Retinopathy.

Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is eye diseases caused by diabetic mellitus or sugar diseases. If DR is detected in early stage, the blindness that follow can be prevented. Ophthalmologist or eye clinician usually decide the stage of DR from retinal fundus images. Careful examination of retinal fundus images is time consuming task and require experienced clinicians or ophthalmologist but a computer which has been trained to recognize the DR stages can diagnose and give result in real-time manner. One approach of algorithm to train a computer to recognize an image is deep learning Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). CNN allows a computer to learn the features of an image, in our case is retinal fundus image, automatically. Preprocessing is usually done before a CNN model is trained. In this study, four preprocessing were carried out. Of the four preprocessing tested, preprocessing with CLAHE and unsharp masking on the green channel of the retinal fundus image give the best results with an accuracy of 79.79%, 82.97% precision, 74.64% recall, and 95.81% AUC. The CNN architecture used is Inception v3.

Power Quality disturbances problems have gained widespread interest worldwide due to the proliferation of power electronic load such as adjustable speed drives, computer, industrial drives, communication and medical equipments. This paper presents a technique based on wavelet and probabilistic neural network to detect and classify power quality disturbances, which are harmonic, voltage sag, swell and oscillatory transient. The power quality disturbances are obtained from the waveform data collected from premises, which include the UiTM Sarawak, Faculty of Science Computer in Shah Alam, Jati College, Menara UiTM, PP Seksyen 18 and Putra LRT. Reliable Power Meter is used for data monitoring and the data is further processed using the Microsoft Excel software. From the processed data, power quality disturbances are detected using the wavelet technique. After the disturbances being detected, it is then classified using the Probabilistic Neural Network. Sixty data has been chosen for the training of the Probabilistic Neural Network and ten data has been used for the testing of the neural network. The results are further interfaced using matlab script code.  Results from the research have been very promising which proved that the wavelet technique and Probabilistic Neural Network is capable to be used for power quality disturbances detection and classification.
