Magnetic properties of Co, Ni and Zn substituted barium hexaferrite (BaM) samples prepared by solid state ceramic method were studied. Saturation magnetisation were found higher for Zn-substituted BaM, whereas, coercivity is higher for Co2+ and Ni2+ ion substituted samples. Anisotropy field for all substituted samples was calculated by the law of approaching saturation. Remanence, squareness and thermomagnetic plot suggest Zn2+ ions restricts the magnetic interaction of various sites in BaM.

Microwave dielectric ceramics have great potential applications in the fields of modern communication technology. However, the effects of processing of solid reaction on the crystal structure and properties of NiZrNb2O8 has not been reported. In this paper, the NiZrNb2O8 ceramic was prepared using different raw materials. The solid state reaction process, crystal structure, and dielectric properties of the NiZrNb2O8 ceramics were investigated. The X-ray diffractometer (XRD) results showed that the solid state reaction of NiZrNb2O8 could be divided into two steps using NiO, ZrO2 and Nb2O6 as raw materials. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) analysis results showed that the surface of NiZrNb2O8 prepared from NiNb2O6 and ZrO2 was more compact. The optimal density of the samples reached 99.28% of the theoretical value. And the dielectric constant (εr), quality factor (Q×f), temperature coefficient of resonant (τf) reached 23.6, 37237 GHz, -7.796 ppm/°C, respectively.

Single phase samples of Na1-xCaxCo2O4 (with x = 0, 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3) are prepared by utilizing a solid state reaction process, and the Ca2+ substitution effect on thermoelectric properties is then observed. On the samples, the increment of Ca2+ substitution results in the increase of resistivity and thermo power properties. The Ca2+ substitution in NaCo2O4 reduces charge carriers of the samples. This phenomenon indicates that there are many holes in the samples and it is consistent with the positive sign of thermo power. It demonstrates that the Ca2+ substitution is effective to enhance thermoelectric properties.
