In alkali metal and lanthanide coordination chemistry, triphenylsiloxides seem to be unduly underappreciated ligands. This is as surprising as that such substituents play a crucial role, among others, in stabilizing rare oxidation states of lanthanide ions, taking a part of intramolecular and molecular interactions stabilizing metal-oxygen cores and many others. This paper reports the synthesis and characterization of new lithium [Li4(OSiPh3)4(THF)2] (1), and sodium [Na4(OSiPh3)4] (2) species, which were later used in obtaining novel gadolinium [Gd(OSiPh3)3(THF)3]·THF (3), and erbium [Er(OSiPh3)3(THF)3]·THF (4) triphenylsiloxides. Crystal structures were determined for all 1–4 compounds, and in addition, IR, Raman, absorption spectroscopy studies were conducted for 3 and 4 lanthanide compounds. Furthermore, direct current (dc) variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility measurements on polycrystalline samples of 3 and 4 were carried out in the temperature range 1.8–300 K. The 3 shows behavior characteristics for the paramagnetism of the Gd3+ ion. In contrast, the magnetic properties of 4 are dominated by the crystal field effect on the Er3+ ion, masking the magnetic interaction between magnetic centers of neighboring molecules.

Magnetic metallic nanoparticles (MNPs) of Ni, Ni82Fe18, Ni50Fe50, Ni64Fe36, and Fe were prepared by the technique of the electrical explosion of metal wire. The average size of the MNPs of all types was in the interval of 50 to 100 nm. Magnetic polymeric composites based on polyvinyl butyral with embedded metal MNPs were synthesized and their structural, adhesive, and magnetic properties were comparatively analyzed. The interaction of polyvinyl butyral (supplied as commercial GE cryogenic varnish) with metal MNPs was studied by microcalorimetry. The enthalpy of adhesion was also evaluated. The positive values of the enthalpy of interaction with GE increase in the series Ni82Fe18, Ni64Fe36, Ni50Fe50, and Fe. Interaction of Ni MNPs with GE polymer showed the negative change in the enthalpy. No interfacial adhesion of GE polymer to the surface of Fe and permalloy MNPs in composites was observed. The enthalpy of interaction with GE polymer was close to zero for Ni95Fe5 composite. Structural characterization of the GE/Ni composites with the MNPs with the lowest saturation magnetization confirmed that they tended to be aggregated even for the materials with lowest MNPs concentrations due to magnetic interaction between permalloy MNPs. In the case of GE composites with Ni MNPs, a favorable adhesion of GE polymer to the surface of MNPs was observed.

We investigate the behavior of thermal quantum coherence in the Heisenberg XXX model for a two-qubit system placed in independently controllable Inhomogeneous magnetic fields applied to two qubits respectively. We discuss the behavior of quantum coherence by systematically varying the coupling parameter, magnetic field, and temperature for both ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic cases. The results show the interesting behavior of quantum coherence in a certain range of parameters. Generally, it is observed that quantum correlations decay with temperature, but in the ferromagnetic case with uniform magnetic interaction, it rises with temperature up to a certain threshold value and ultimately it decreases its value to zero. Moreover, it is observed that preserving the quantum coherence for small temperatures is very hard with the increasing magnetic field because, at small temperatures, quantum coherence decays sharply with the increase in magnetic field whereas at larger temperatures it decays completely at fairly large values of the magnetic field. The variation of quantum coherence with uniform magnetic field in the antiferromagnetic case is observed to be Gaussian for larger temperature but at zero or nearly zero temperature, it behaves as a constant function for uniform magnetic field up to a threshold value and then decays to zero with an infinite slope. This shows the signature of quantum phase transition from quantum nature to classicality.

Abstract It had been done the experiments of the solidification on Al-Fe alloy under a high static magnetic field (10T). The effect of high magnetic field on the morphology of primary Al3Fe phase in Al-3%Fe alloy solidification structure has been investigated by analyzing the microstructures. The experimental results shew that the variation of the morphology of Al3Fe phase was obvious under a high static magnetic field, and them changed to particle-likes and short needles from needle-likes, and they were arranged in chains along the direction of magnetic field to form oriented layered structure. The critical nucleation work reduced and the nucleation rate increased under the applied field, and the magnetic interaction caused by the field can suppress the growth of needle-like Al3Fe phase, both of them resulted in the particle-likes and short needles grains of primary Al3Fe phase to nucleate and grow preferentially. Under the action of magnetic moment and the magnetic interaction force a high static magnetic field, the grains of Al3Fe rotated and then polymerized, and finally formed chain arrangements and layer structures.
