Marine and coastal area management is necessary to be operated comprehensively and sustainable. The existence of indigenous peoples and traditional society has a role in the marine and coastal areas management, but the legislation has not been fully giving more protection in its management. Economic base development, generally often ignore local society wisdom, so that a clean environment is being polluted as a result of that waiver. Development that materialistic value oriented, only the physical build that actually provide benefits to investors and not the community itself. What kind of justice that ideally obtained by indigenous and traditional peoples to achieve justice that bring prosperity? The government has neglected and must fix the policies in the legislation as a foundation for development without neglecting the indigenous people themselves. Equitable development not just physically, but sustainable development to preserve nature by observing local society wisdom that have taken place to the next. The government still considered neglectful for environmental management.

Challenged with intense market competition, developing countries are searching for methods to ensure sustainable development through business performance. In this regard, TQM and NPD play a major role. However, research is limited in the area of addressing the contextual link between TQM, NPD, and sustainable development. Therefore, this paper examines the relationship between the three and the outcome of the relationship. The results show that TQM in the context of NPD for sustainable development in developing countries focuses on adaptive products through incremental improvements on production technology, NPD system, product development, production process, and employee know-how. It is also found that TQM revolutionizes the conventional R&D system by enhancing innovation capabilities. It reduces development costs and time alleviating financial limitations. The results further reveal that process focus on the TQM framework has contributed to sustainable ecology management through various environmental management systems.

In this chapter, the characteristics of a vision for a region, organization, or group are discussed, and then attention turns to examining the roles of forecasting and backcasting, and scenarios to anticipate the future. Subsequently, the characteristics of both sustainable development and resilience as possible visions to guide resource and environmental management are examined. In the context of sustainable development, the distinction between weak and strong sustainability is reviewed. Next, attention turns to the implications of the Anthropocene for achieving sustainable development and resilience. The concept of the rule of hand is explored, which suggests that normally not more than three to five variables are significant when trying to understand complex social-ecological systems, followed by consideration of how both adaptation and transformation can become strategies to address complexity and uncertainty. Kathryn Bellette provides a guest statement focused on implementing a strategy for sustainable development in metropolitan Adelaide, Australia.
