In this analysis we have chosen a recent French talk show to illustrate how communication is turned into some new kind of "ideology"nowadays: in other words, you have to communicate if you consider yourself a citizen of today's world. The main characteristic of issue-centered talk shows being the destabilization of the implicit rules and participation framework, we observe how the so-called democratic right to express ourselves is (mis)used by the talk show host to secure the dynamics of the show. In order to reveal the host's manipulations, we have examined the verbal interactions between host and guests on the following issues: topic choice, turn-taking mechanisms and identity construction of the talk show's guests. In the perspective that this kind of talk show presents itself as a public space where direct democracy can be exercised, the analysis of the discursive strategies of the talk show host reveals the impact of a mediatic participation framework.

This chapter takes up the position of the prototypically moral good Christian girl-cum-woman. It considers what the correspondence between morality and immorality reveals about the constraints under which sexuality is often put in the black Christian church by way of, first, an interview conducted between former gospel artist Tonéx and Christian talk show host Lexi Allen in which Tonéx effectively outed himself, and, second, “No More Sheets,” a recorded sermon of popular televangelist Juanita Bynum.

This chapter proposes a systems-theoretic adjustment to conceptual blending theory with respect to the so-called generic space. In creative conceptualization, the generic space is not an optional by-product of conceptual mappings across previously and otherwise constituted input spaces, but rather their effective cause, and not by selecting for them but by massively constraining against anything not them. As a first approximation of the blend’s targeted or intended meaning, the generic space functions as an indispensable “proto-blend” that sets the parameters and satisfaction conditions for the resulting conceptual network. This underappreciated point is elaborated through case studies of three well-known and increasingly complex creative blends: a sentence-level metaphor (“This surgeon is a butcher!”), an extemporaneous discourse exchange (from the live radio talk show “Loveline”), and a highly iconic lyric poem (Richard Wilbur’s “Piazza di Spagna, Early Morning”).

Soloviev, which were derived as the result of verbal-semantic speech level analysis. Lexical-semantic components of this level are analyzed. Moreover, in the process of this study was stated that on cognitive-value level of implementation the communicative personality of talk-show host is characterized by high level of language skills, professional competence; cultural and national identity is valued highly by the host of talk-show. It is noted, that the host of the talk-show uses different tactics, for example the tactic of taking care of his image and ignoring the image of the opponents to state a line between friends and foes. Nevertheless it is underlined that the dominance of the talk-show host and the harshness of some statements is to some degree is toned down by usage of informal communication style and ironic tonality of speech.
