The utilization of consistorial sources is a research postulate that has been voiced repeatedly over the years. These materials comprise a compact volume of data that are both organized serially and mass-produced, while the fact that they touch upon a wealth of topics and thus have considerable cognitive value for interdisciplinary studies cannot be overestimated. Magdalena Biniaś-Szkopek’s book is a pioneering study and, at the same time, a successful attempt at making comprehensive use of the nine oldest registers of the consistorial court of Poznań. The ledgers cover the years 1404–26 and contain entries devoted to ‘marital issues’ in the broadest meaning of the term, with particular consideration being given to the complex position of women who took part in proceedings before mediaeval ecclesiastical courts.

Purpose: The aim of this article is to assess the possibility of applying the industry livestock valuation index as proposed by Karolina Pasula during the public defense of the doctoral dissertation “Directions and conditions for the standardization of accounting in agricultural enterprises” as an alternative method of valuation, taking into account sources of information and risk assessment on a farm. Methodology: The research process was divided into three main stages: (1) examining the possibility of applying the industry indicator for measuring biological assets proposed by K. Pasula for the valuation of livestock, i.e. pigs, as exemplified by a selected farm whose undertakings are known to the authors; (2) repeating the study from stage 1 on the valuation of dairy cattle as exemplified by the farm the activities of which are known to the authors; (3) on the basis of the conclusions of stage 1 and stage 2 studies, possible modification of the industry indicator for measuring biological assets, conducting research on a larger group of farms breeding livestock. Findings & value added: The conducted research confirmed the possibility of applying the analyzed ratio in the practice of entities that do not keep accounting books. The obtained results are characterized by high cognitive value as a measure of biological assets in relation to pigs. The valuation based on the industry measurement index in farms takes into account the risk which, as shown in the research, is an important factor influencing the value from the valuation.

Reflection on the role of the method in theology aims to show that the method remains an extremely important tool for theology as a science. Theology, like other scientific disciplines, must be based on an appropriate methodological system when it undertakes to explain the religious and supernatural element in the world. Without this element, theology loses its significant cognitive value and ceases to inspire human thought. Today, one of the most important tasks of theology as a science is to establish the necessary balance between the deep sense of faith and religious practice.

AbstractThis paper argues that moral distress is a distinctive category of reactive attitudes that are taken to be part and parcel of the social dynamics for recognition. While moral distress does not demonstrate evidence of wrongdoing, it does emotionally articulate a demand for normative attention that is addressed to others as moral providers. The argument for this characterization of the deontic power of moral distress builds upon two examples in which the cognitive value of the victim’s emotional experience is controversial: the case of micro-aggression, and the case of misplaced distress. In contrast to appraisal and perceptual models of distress, it is argued that its epistemic and normative value is dialogical rather than evidential, in that it presses claims that engage the audience in a normative discussion about the normative standing of the claimant, the proper grounds of the attitude, and the normative standards used to assess them.

This article presents an analysis of two brass lockets, rectangular in shape, discovered in a richly equipped grave no. 62 in an early-medieval grave field in Radom (the 4th quarter of the 11-12th centuries). As a result of the analysis, their cognitive value can be estimated in a comprehensive way against the background of other finds of the type excavated in graves. On the other hand, it has allowed to enrich the knowledge of burying the dead with objects of magical and religious nature. The lockets discovered in Radom were made locally, most probably as imitations of more sophisticated pendants. Most probably, they were used as containers for magical or healing amulets, possibly contact relics (brandeum, eulogiae) or perfumes. They were probably buried after mid-11th century, during the religious transformation taking place in the early Piast state, bearing material testimony to the intertwining pagan rites and the ceremonies of the new faith.

Aim. The foundation of symbolization is a substitution: a mediation between a Representamen and Object. The paper leverages this core mechanic to examine the substitutions within the conscious and unconscious parts of the mind, which compose every act of thinking. Recognizing it is a single instance: the Ego, which regulates this parallel mediation, the paper focuses on the exploration of dichotomies that result from the necessity to perform two symbolizations simultaneously. Concepts. The study’s theoretical framework is determined by Charles S. Peirce’s (1998) concept of sign and Melanie Klein’s (1948) psychoanalytic theory. From semiotic and psychoanalytic angles, this paper explores possible comprehensions of the object in the quasi-mind (Interpretant in infinite semiosis) and actual realization of code in the act of individual thinking (Ego mediating between conscious and unconscious symbolization). Results and conclusion. The main result of the study is the exposure of dichotomies that structure the shared ground for the conscious and the unconscious symbolization. This, in turn, highlights tangible constraints that the mind is subjected to in the act of thinking. Cognitive value. The study’s main contribution is the high-level scheme of dynamics that hold the Ego in reality through the means of unconscious and conscious symbolization. The study also incorporates into coherent model unexamined aspects of individual sign usage: it deploys psychic continuity into the conscious symbolization process (by basing the model on the instance of Ego), which allows addressing the issues arising at the border of conscious and unconscious symbolization.

The article reviews publications devoted to geological and geomorphological monuments of Ukraine highlights specific features of their formation in different regions and reveals their importance for the development of nature-cognitive tourism as a basis for the formation of the tourism industry. The methodological unity of the concepts "geological monuments" and "geomorphological monuments", which characterize the original course of natural processes and their results and therefore have great scientific and cognitive value are considered. Emphasis is placed on the important participation of geomorphological processes in the formation of natural monuments, which show different geological monuments on the earth's surface and reflect not only the features of geological factors but also the diversity of relief processes, their dynamics, which determines the status of most monuments as "geological and geomorphological". Important for establishing the protection status of geological and geomorphological monuments are the developed criteria for assessing the aesthetics of the relief of Ukraine, its uniqueness, the presence of features "architecture-composition", combination with other elements of the landscape, stability or mobility, imagery – photogenicity, visual effect, emotional perception, attractiveness, etc. It is noted that the category of natural phenomena "geological and geomorphological monuments" is characterized by significant conservatism compared to other components of the natural environment. Such monuments are carriers of paleogeographic and ethnocultural content, which, in addition to scientific significance, gives them the status of interesting tourist attractions. This creates an opportunity for the development of nature-cognitive tourism, which can be both independent and successfully complements all other known types of tourism. Geological and geomorphological monuments influence the nature of recreational activities. The specificity and sequence of recreational functions of the relief of Ukraine according to the special properties of endogenous, exogenous, and anthropogenic genetic varieties of recreational geological and geomorphological monuments have been established. Key words: geotourism; nature-cognitive tourism; geological-geomorphological monuments; geoheritage of Ukraine.

The article presents an analysis of an educational path as a genre in the form of a collection with its flexible rules. It refers to sets of utterances published on boards or posters placed on areas of natural interest and presenting its values. Continuing her earlier studies, the author enriches the communicative perspective of the analyses. She aims at showing the eclectic nature of communication programmed in the analysed educational path. The communication plane is created by a mosaic of discourses with the educational one as the lead, yet updated in the absorptive manner (thus, among others, there is a specification the uniformised communication in the title of the article). In this case the genre filter acts peculiarly, since the realisation of generic rules on the structural level is accompanied by a deepening simultaneity of the sender’s roles with a parallel masking of this process. An official acts in the legislator’s uniform and an educator (teacher) receives a communication costume of a scientist. The world is presented from the professional (scientific) point of view and the utterances take a stereotyped form (the other indicator of uniformisation). The analysed educational path has a low cognitive value both due to the scope and the manner of the knowledge transfer. The entirety — discussed as macrocommunication accomplishing the generic rules in the form of a collection — is unsuccessful in terms of communication. One cannot expect that it will fulfill the function harmonising with the communicational intention of the sender.
