The process of leaving deeply meaningful and embodied identities can be experienced as a struggle against addiction, with continuing cognitive, emotional, and physiological responses that are involuntary, unwanted, and triggered by environmental factors. Using data derived from a unique set of in-depth life history interviews with 89 former U.S. white supremacists, as well as theories derived from recent advances in cognitive sociology, we examine how a rejected identity can persist despite a desire to change. Disengagement from white supremacy is characterized by substantial lingering effects that subjects describe as addiction. We conclude with a discussion of the implications of identity residual for understanding how people leave and for theories of the self.

Based on the environmental survey data in off-shore of Qin Huangdao from May to June 2011,correlation analysis was made between population density of Noctiluca scintillans and environmental factors. The results indicates that population density of Noctiluca scintillans does not exist linear correlation with nitrite, nitrate, ammonia, nitrogen, phosphate,dissolved oxygen and PH ,it is positive correlation with temperature and silicate noctiluca and negatively correlation with transparency and salinity.

Tigriopus fulvus (Fischer, 1860) is a benthic harpacticoid copepod of the Mediterranean supralittoral zone. The transitional characteristics of this environment forced this species to develop high resistance to changes of environmental parameters. Nevertheless, Tigriopus fulvus life-cycle is influenced from the splashpools physical-chemical parameters. In this paper, we present the results of a supralittoral monitoring performed in 2014, confirming the influence of some of these environmental parameters on population buildups. Because of recent worldwide climate change effects, a threat might have been posed on this particularly exposed organism, whose population density decreased of a sixfold value in the last 30 years. During the three pools (A, B, C) monitoring, the maximum copepod density recorded was 1456 Ind/l (September 2014, Pool C), alongside first records of extinction event for Tigriopus fulvus.

Year to year fluctuations in 0+ fish cohort strength are a common phenomenon. Many factors can affect cohort strength during the fish's early life period. In this study, development of a 0+ pikeperch Sander lucioperca cohort in the pelagic zone was studied by trawling for 50 days from first larvae hatching, in two consecutive years. In 2007, an abundant S. lucioperca cohort collapsed suddenly soon after hatching. After the incident, slow-growing S. lucioperca prevailed in the catch. In 2008, the catch gradually increased during the whole study period because of prolonged hatching. Environmental factors differed mainly in a slower temperature increase, higher water level and higher zooplankton abundance in 2008 compared to 2007. Our study revealed that a strong 0+ S. lucioperca cohort at the time of hatching might not result in a strong S. lucioperca cohort in general.
