This paper presented a multicriteria assessment model for evaluating the performance of combined heat and power systems. Interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy numbers were used for representing the subjective and imprecise assessments of the decision maker in evaluating the relative importance of the criteria, and the performance of individual combined heat and power systems. An effective algorithm was developed based on the concept of ideal solutions for calculating the overall performance index, for each combined heat and power system across all criteria. An example was presented to demonstrate the applicability of the multicriteria assessment model, for dealing with real world combined heat and power system performance evaluation problems.

Purpose – The purpose of this study was to develop a 40-criteria agility assessment model and explore its practical feasibility in an industrial scenario. Design/methodology/approach – Agile manufacturing (AM) principles enable organizations to understand customer needs and incorporate the necessary changes in product- and processes-oriented approaches. In this research study, a 40-criteria agility assessment model was developed. The agility assessment model was subjected to investigation in an Indian relays manufacturing organization. Findings – The research study indicates that the organization is agile. Besides computing agility level, the gaps across agile criteria have been identified and actions for agility improvement were subjected to implementation in the case organization. Research limitations/implications – The 40-criteria agility assessment model was subjected to investigation in a single manufacturing organization. In future, more number of studies could be conducted. Practical implications – To acquire agile characteristics, modern organizations should assess the agility level at which they operate. In this context, the agility assessment model was developed. Originality/value – The agility assessment tool presented in this paper consists of 40 agile criteria, which are well supported by the research findings reported in literature. Hence, the developed 40-criteria agile model is original and novel.

Abstract This research was conducted with the main objective to develop a model of character education integrated with science learning in elementary, junior, and senior high schools. The research was focused on the needs analysis study involving 36 elementary school science teachers, 34 junior high school science teachers and 27 senior high school science teachers to collect information on science learning in relation to character education. Data were collected by questionnaires, observation and interviewing techniques. Data were analyzed by descriptive and qualitative meaning. The results showed that: 1) character education can be developed through selection of science learning model, assessment model, and teaching materials, 2) science learning models that contribute significantly to the development of the character of students are inquiry learning, problem-based learning, cooperative learning , science-technology-society, problem solving, and contextual learning models, 3) science teacher’s responses to the character education are generally very positive and seek to develop good character through a learning process, 4) some (55.3%) science teachers include indicators of character values that to be target of learning in the syllabus and lesson plans, and some (44.7%) do not explicitly specify its, but implicitly implied in the syllabus and lesson plans. Keywords: character education, integrated science learning
