Transmission performance evaluation for MU-MIMO systems based on Block Diagonalization method in spatially correlated multipath fading environment

The transmission performance for a downlink mobile WiMAX system with multiuser multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) systems in a computer simulation and field experiment is described. In computer simulation, a MU-MIMO transmission system can be realized by using the block diagonalization (BD) algorithm, and each user can receive signals without any signal interference from other users. The bit error rate (BER) performance and channel capacity in accordance with modulation schemes and the number of streams were simulated in a spatially correlated multipath fading environment. Furthermore, we propose a method for evaluating the transmission performance for this downlink mobile WiMAX system in this environment by using the computer simulation. In the field experiment, the received power and downlink throughput in the UDP layer were measured on an experimental mobile WiMAX system developed in Azumino City in Japan. In comparison with the simulated and experimented results, the measured maximum throughput performance in the downlink had almost the same performance as the simulated throughput. It was confirmed that the experimental mobile WiMAX system for MU-MIMO transmission successfully increased the total channel capacity of the system.

Recently many practical downlink multi-user MIMO linear pre-coding methods have been proposed, such as the channel inversion method and the block diagonalization method (BD). Considering the channel inversion method based on MMSE criterion (MMSE-CI) which is confined to a single receives antenna case, the BD has more advantages in multiple antennas cases, however, it has poor performance at the low and medium SNR regime on account of no consideration on the noise. In this paper, an improved MMSE pre-coding method is proposed with multi receive antennas of each user. Based on MMSE-CI, the cooperation of multiple antennas is adopted to further suppress the residual interference during designing the pre-coding matrix, which could increase the signal-to- interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) at each user’s receiver. The proposed method obtains a better performance than the MMSE-CI and the BD algorithms, and its effectiveness is validated by both theoretical analyses and numerical simulations.

Mechanicalmethods were employed to study the motion and force transmission performance ofa kind of connecting rod slider mechanism with a curved edge driving component.The deduction methods and the computation formulae of the slider displacement,velocity, acceleration and the executive force gain coefficient were given.Considering two cases of the driving components with straight line edge andexponential function edge, the numerical examples was computed respectively,the results show that the former one is suitable for the force transmission andcan be used in the grip design and the other one is suitable for the motiontransmission which can be used in the fast moving mechanism
