Over the years, value co-creation practices have become increasingly more important by supporting collaborative interactions and the achievement of sustainable and mutual competitive advantage between the ecosystem’ actors. In this direction, the oil and gas industry is proposing a sustainable re-use of offshore platforms based on value co-creation and resources exchange between the actors involved. According to this consideration, this work aims at re-reading the decommissioning of offshore platforms in the light of value co-creation practices, trying to capture the factors that governments and companies can leverage to pursue a sustainable development of local communities. To reach this goal, this work follows an exploratory approach by using, in particular, the case study. Specifically, one of the most notably projects in the Italian context have been chosen, the Paguro platform, in order to provide empirical insights into the nature of these value co-creation processes. Five value co-creation practices have been identified which highlight the importance of synergistic efforts of institutions, companies and technology-based platforms for improving the ability to co-create and capture value in the process of decommissioning. This exploratory work establishes a foundation for future research, and offers theoretical and managerial guidance in this increasingly important area.

Implementing safety behavior in the oil and gas industries is still challenging, although fatal accidents often occur. This research aims to analyze how SHEQ talks, a Badak LNG program, can successfully prevent workers' work accidents. Using qualitative methods with a case study approach, the researchers interviewed several key persons in the SHEQ talk program, including the board of management, the SHEQ department's employees, and Badak LNG's employers. Inclusiveness is the main component in the SHEQ talks program. It leads to safety behavior among all Badak LNG's workers (interdependent stage). Unlike the usual behavior-based safety program, SHEQ talks encourage all employees to have good knowledge and skill of health and safety environments. Therefore, safety performance among the workers does not entirely depend on the OSH officers. Eliminating the superior and subordinate when conducting the safety talks are essential to build the safety culture among workers in the oil and gas industries.

The implementation of CSR programs of Tiaka refinery is based on financial, goods assistance, and several empowerment programs. However, the community’s response is negative. The community’s disappointment and dissatisfaction are accompanied by threats to the Tiaka refinery. This study uses a case study approach on Kolo Bawah, Baturube, and Tanasumpu to understand PT. Joint Operation Body (JOB) Pertamina Medco Tomori Sulawesi impacts on the loss of livelihood of the Bajo ethnic community in Kolo Bawah. The results show that the Bajo communities in Kolo Bawah are excluded from their living and cultural space because of the refinery. CSR activities and community empowerment are unable to reduce the economic and social burden of Bajo communities. CSR activities are not transparent, partial, and not accompanied by a needs assessment. CSR/CD activities remain as a source of mutual suspicion between regions, community and ethnic groups.
