In the micro electroforming process, the existence of electroforming layer defects caused by macro internal stress seriously limits the application and development of the micro electroforming technology. Currently, some studies have shown that ultrasonic can reduce the internal stress. But the formation process of the internal stress and the mechanism of ultrasonic stress relief in micro electroforming layer are still unclear now. In this paper, the relationship between dislocation density and internal stress under ultrasonic was studied. The results show that the ultrasonic can make the dislocation density increase and the compressive stress decrease. When the ultrasonic power is 200W, the dislocation density and the compressive stress culminate 3.8×10-15m-2 and-144.4MPa, respectively. The ultrasonic can excite the movement of dislocation proliferation, pile-up and opening, which leads to a micro plastic deformation in the crystal, and thereby releases the internal stress.

Metallic gasket seals are widely used in pressure vessels and piping. The failure of sealing systems is mostly caused not by the strength of flanges or bolts but by the leakage of the connections. The contact area of sealing surface has a major influence on the leakage of the bolted flange connections. The contact model of sealing surfaces of the flange and the metallic gasket was established on the basis of the modified M-B model, and the relationship between the contact area and the compressive stress is obtained. It’s found that the bigger the compressive stress, the bigger the contact area. When the compressive stresses are identical, the bigger fractal dimension and the less scale coefficient, the bigger the contact area. These can be used in the evaluation of sealing behavior of metallic gaskets.

Abstract In this paper, the relationship between crack closure level and the crack length is studied with experiment and numerical simulation under different low cycle fatigue (LCF) loads. The evolution mechanism of crack closure behavior is explored through the variations of the accumulative plastic strain and compressive stress near the crack-tip. The compressive residual stress is separated into two parts for comparative analysis, namely: the stress field ahead of the crack tip and the stress field of the wake region. The magnitude of the compressive stress field is obtained by the integration along the crack propagation direction of the normal stress. The results show that there is an excellent correlation between LCF crack closure level and the magnitude of the compressive stress in the plastic wake, which provides a new way to further study the complex mechanism of crack closure under LCF loads.
