The output of photovoltaic (PV) array is affected by the environmental factors such as irradiation and temperature, so an effective maximum power point tracking (MPPT) method of PV array is necessary. In this paper, a modified perturb and observe (MPO) method is proposed to achieve MPPT for a PV system and to improve the shortcomings of prior methods. Comparing with a typical perturb and observe (P&O) MPPT method, the MPO efficiency is improved in transient state by the proposed MPPT as theoretical prediction.

In order to realize the solar photovoltaic (PV) system connecting with grid friendly, a PV system with voltage-controlled inverter based on virtual synchronous generator (SG) is presented. This kind of system has features of SG, which supply the virtual moment of inertia to grid. The mathematical model of PV and virtual SG is built, and the control strategy of the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) is also studied in the paper. Simulation model of the grid-connected PV power system is built on Matlab/Simulink. Finally, correctness and feasibility of this system are verified by simulation results.

Extraction of maximum amount of energy under the constraints of variable irradiance and temperature from solar panel is a burning topic of research now a day. MPPT[maximum power point tracking] acts a vital role for the fulfillment of the objective. Literature survey and research shows the gray area of conventional P&O[Perturb and Observe] method implemented for tracking MPPs[Maximum Power Point]. This research article conveys the implementation of PSO based MPPT technique and also compares the result with the conventional P&O algorithm in SIMULINK based MATLAB platform. The PSO based MPPT technique is applied to boost converter fed isolated standalone PV system and concluded with enhanced performance. This paper also calculates the factors like Pmax and Imax of the proposed new system which indicates better performance than the former.

The paper aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of various MPPT Technique under various environmental condition. The photovoltaic array having non-linear power voltage characteristic and under non-uniform irradiances. It shows a many peaks which have many local peaks and one global peak. For getting a global peak among all local peaks, MPPT play an important role in PV system. Therefore a technique like maximum power point tracking (MPPT) is required to optimize the performance. Here the comparison of hill climbing perturb and observe (P&O) algorithm technique, incremental and conductance (I&C) control algorithm, the drift free P&O algorithm technique are discussed in detail with simulation and simultaneously some other intelligent control techniques comparison are given briefly which help the researcher to ease in selecting the appropriate algorithm for specific application.
