The article examines the approaches to the classification of social enterprises by different classification features, such as: objectives and direction of using profit, priority sources of funding, the degree of integration of social programs and business processes, the degree of financial capacity, ways to create social enterprises, specifics of entrepreneurial activity organization, organizational and legal form, areas of activity, size, location, etc. A new approach to classification according to the criterion of innovative potential of enterprises is proposed.

Service-oriented computing (SOC) is a new computing paradigm that uses services as building blocks to accelerate the development of distributed applications in heterogeneous computer environments. SOC promises a world of cooperating services where application components are combined with little effort into a network of loosely coupled services for creating flexible and dynamic business processes that can cover many organizations and computing platforms (Chesbrough & Spohrer, 2006; Papazoglou & Georgakopoulos, 2003). From a technical point of view, the efforts to offer services have focused on the development of standards and the creation of the infrastructure necessary to describe, discover, and access services using the Web. This type of service is usually called a Web service. The availability of an abundant number of Web services defines a platform for distributed computing in which information and services are supplied on demand, and new services can be created (composed) using available services. Nevertheless, the composition of Web services involves three fundamental problems (Sycara, Paolucci, Ankolekar, & Srinivasan, 2003): 1. To elaborate a plan that describes how Web services interact, how the functionally they offer can be integrated to provide a solution to the considered problem. 2. To discover Web services that accomplish the tasks required by the plan. 3. To manage the interaction of the chosen services. Problems 2 and 3 are of responsibility of the infrastructure that supports the composition of services, while the first problem is of responsibility of the (software) agents that use the infrastructure. The discovery and interaction of Web services poses two main challenges to the infrastructure: 1. How to represent Web services capabilities and how to recognize the similarities between service capabilities and the required functionalities. 2. How to specify the information a Web service requires and provides, the interaction protocol, and the low-level mechanisms required to service invocation.

The inherent quality of business processes and their support through information technology (IT) increasingly plays a significant role in the economic success of an organization. More and more business processes are supported through IT services. In order to provide IT services with the required quality and at minimum costs, the importance of effective and efficient IT service management (ITSM) processes is crucial. In this contribution, the authors present a new approach, which allows the continual process improvement by the interconnection of the ITIL reference model, the 7-step improvement process, and process mining. On the basis of the reference model, to-be processes are set and key indicators are determined. As-is processes and their key indicators derived by process mining are subsequently compared to the to-be processes. This new approach enables the design, control, and improvement of ITIL based customer support processes, which will be trialed in practice.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to develop a new approach to investigate complex processes, such as software development processes, using business process modeling.Design/methodology/approachThe paper presents an investigation into the use of role activity diagramming (RAD) to model complex processes in the software industry sector, with reference to the process of TestWarehouse as a case study.FindingsSystematic extension and quantitative analysis to RAD models led to the discovery of process bottlenecks, identification of cross functional boundary problems, and focused discussion about automation of processes.Research limitations/implicationsFurther work is required to validate and evaluate the proposed approach using several cases with different application domains and thus generalize the adopted approach.Practical implicationsA new approach has been used successfully to understand and analyze business processes. The tools and techniques that are used to perform the approach are not complicated and do not need much specialist expertise, so the approach is not only oriented toward specialists but also toward organizations' managers and staff.Originality/valueNew techniques have been developed by using process modelling to deepen the understanding and analyzing of complex organizational processes. This research implements a practical investigation which uses a case study to validate the new techniques.

The thesis presents methodological approaches to diagnosis and restructuring the system of economic regulation business processes of construction organizations, aimed to stabilize their economic development. It was suggested a new definition of the term «business process of construction organization» and performed the decomposition of business processes in construction. It was determined main components of management of construction organizations, which allow improving their structure and consolidating all processes with strategically goals. It was improved the outsourcing mechanism to optimize financial processes and flows of subcontract construction organizations under condition of constrains on resources and deadlines on the construction of residential buildings designed and optimal measures of pre-payment. A new approach for the management of financial flows by means of fuzzy sets. Found out typical failings in administration of business processes in «effective» and «ineffective» of construction organizations to restructure their activity. It was conducted determinative factor analysis of profitability of operating activity in construction industry and worked out measures to improve the situation. Worked out the quantitative characteristics of key business processes, which allow defining the size of the advance payment of a customer to optimal level.
