Texas is proud of its oil and gas industry, but the state is blessed with abundant solar and wind power potential. Tapping that potential requires more than simply building out more wind turbines and solar panels–Texas will need a large, but achievable energy storage system. This study analyzes if Texas coulld become a green state in the future.

Since renewable power is intermittent and uncertain, modern grid systems need to be more elegant to provide a reliable, affordable, and sustainable power supply. This paper introduces a robust optimal planning strategy to find the location and the size of an energy storage system (ESS) and feeders. It aims to accommodate the wind power energy integration to serve the future demand growth under uncertainties. The methodology was tested in the IEEE RTS-96 system and the simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed optimal sizing strategy. The findings validate the improvements in the power system reliability and flexibility.

This paper focuses on the sizing of a battery energy storage system providing frequency containment reserves in a power system with a large wind power penetration level. A three-stage sizing methodology including the different aspect of battery energy storage system performance is proposed. The first stage includes time-domain simulations, investigating battery energy storage system dynamic response and its capability of providing frequency reserves. The second stage involves lifetime investigation. An economic assessment of the battery unit is carried out by performing the last stage. The main outcome of the proposed methodology is to choose the suitable battery energy storage system size for providing frequency containment reserve from augmented wind power plants while fulfilling relevant evaluation criteria imposed for each stage.

The study is devoted to the analysis of the balance sheet profit of the leading companies in the oil and gas industry. The types of profits were considered, as well as the dynamics of the changes in indicators affecting their formation were analyzed. In addition, the article considers the composition and struc-ture of the balance sheet profit, factors affecting its size. Based on the financial statements of the companies, an idea of the state of profit in the companies «Rosneft», «Lukoil», «Gazprom» and «Tatneft» has been com-piled. The paper analyzes quantitative statistical indicators that reflect the results achieved from 2016–2020.
