In the present study, the effects of radiation and chemical reaction on unsteady free convection flow and mass transfer of a viscous, electrically conducting incompressible fluid near an impulsively moving vertical flat plate with ramped wall temperature is studied. The primary purpose of this study is to characterize the effects of ramped wall temperature, radiation parameter, chemical reaction parameter, Schmidt number etc., on the flow properties. Exact solutions of the present problem are obtained in closed form by Laplace transform technique. The variations in fluid velocity, temperature and concentration are shown graphically whereas numerical values of skin friction, rate of heat and mass transfer are presented in tabular form to observe the effects of various parameters.

Influence of thermal radiation on unsteady magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) free convection flow of Jeffrey fluid over a vertical plate with ramped wall temperature is studied. The Laplace transform technique is used to obtain the analytical solutions. Expressions for skin friction and Nusselt number are also obtained. Results of velocity and temperature distributions are shown graphically for embedded parameters such as Jeffrey fluid parameterλ, Prandtl numberPr, Grashof numberGr, Hartmann numberHa, radiation parameterRd, and dimensionless timeτ. It is observed that the amplitude of velocity and temperature profile for isothermal are always higher than ramped wall temperature.

The effect of chemical reaction on unsteady magentohydrodynamic (MHD) free convection flow in a porous medium past an infinite inclined plate has been investigated. Laplace transform technique is the method to solve the solutions for velocity, temperature and concentration fields. The analytical expressions for non-dimensional skin friction, Nusselt number and Sherwood number has been presented. The influence of various embedded parameter on velocity, temperature and concentration such as chemical reaction parameter, magnetic field and radiation has been discussed in detail. The effects of involved parameters have been discussed and the numerical results are presented graphically.

AbstractSimultaneous effects of thermal and concentration diffusions in unsteady magnetohydrodynamic free convection flow past a moving plate maintained at constant heat flux and embedded in a viscous fluid saturated porous medium is presented. The transport model employed includes the effects of thermal radiation, heat sink, Soret and chemical reaction. The fluid is considered as a gray absorbing-emitting but non-scattering medium and the Rosseland approximation in the energy equations is used to describe the radiative heat flux for optically thick fluid. The dimensionless coupled linear partial differential equations are solved by using Laplace transform technique. Numerical results for the velocity, temperature, concentration as well as the skin friction coefficient and the rates of heat and mass transfer are shown graphically for different values of physical parameters involved.

In the present study, an unsteady two-dimensional MHD free convection flow chemical reacting fluid past a semi-infinite permeable vertical moving plate in a porous medium with Soret and Dufour effects is analyzed. The dimensionless governing equations are solved numerically by a finite element method. Computations are performed for a wide range of the governing flow parameters, viz., the thermal Grashof number, solutal Grashof number, Magnetic field parameter, Permeability parameter, Prandtl number, Heat absorption parameter, Dufour number, Schmidt number, Chemical reaction parameter and Soret number. The effects of these flow parameters on the velocity, temperature and concentration are shown graphically. Finally, the effects of various parameters on the skin-friction coefficient, Nusselt number and Sherwood number are shown in Tables. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3329/jname.v8i1.6054

The problem of heat and mass transfer free convection flow of Casson fluid over a porous nonlinear stretching sheet in the presence of chemical reaction is investigated. Moreover the effect of magnetic field is also considered. The governing partial differential equations are transformed into ordinary differential equations by making use of suitable transformations and then solved numerically via Keller-box method. The results for skin friction are compared with previous results of the existing literature. The results are also reflected in good agreement. It is noted that concentration of Casson fluid reduces rapidly by increasing Schmidt number and chemical parameter. Also, thermal Grashof number and mass Grashof number enhance the momentum boundary layer thickness, whereas increment in chemical reaction parameter reduces the heat transfer rate. Moreover, both the fluid velocity and wall shear stress are observed to be decreased with increment in suction/blowing parameter.
