The objective of the present study has been to test the laser interferometry method in terms of its usability for investigating sorption properties of minerals. This method was used to test the absorption capacity of halloysite with reference to glucose, which is often found in industrial wastewater and whose excess can disturb the environmental eco-balance. The sorption capacity of halloysite was thus determined indirectly, basing on the comparison of concentration profiles as well as time characteristics of glucose quantities released from the control solution and from the solution incubated with a halloysite adsorbent. An analysis of glucose diffusion was conducted in a two-chamber membrane system. On the basis of the obtained concentration profiles, the evolution of the concentration field was determined; so were the removal efficiency (%) and the amount of glucose adsorbed at equilibrium (qe, mg/g). The obtained results confirm good sorption properties of halloysite with respect to the investigated substance as well as usability of the method for this kind of investigations. The presented tests suggest that the measurement set-up can be optimised in such as way that visual rendering and testing the kinetics of the adsorbed substance direct release from the studied material become possible.

Digital Speckle Pattern Interferometry ( DSPI for short ) method has become one of the most practical worthy techniques for speckle measuring methods with the high-speed development of optic-electronical technique, image processing technology and electronic computer technology. There is a lot of advantages about it, such as uncomplicated operation, non-contacting, advanced automatic level, measurement on-line and extensive using. In this thesis, the displacement variation of the induced strain field for driving by piezoelectric ceramics can be measured by using this method. Thus we can come to a conclusion that digital speckle pattern interferometry is a new measuring method for extracting small-signal. It also provides a powerfully theoretical and experimental platform for study of automated, full-field, high-precision and nondestructive measurement.

Abstract. Acoustic energy emitted by drill bit can be recorded by geophones on the surface and processed for an image of the subsurface using seismic interferometry methods. Pilot sensors record bit signal on the drill rig and play an important role in processing geophone traces for the image. When pilot traces are not available, traces of the nearest geophone to the rig may be used in deconvolution and crosscorrelation of data but extra signal processing efforts are required to reduce the effect of source signature on crosscorrelation results. In this study, we use seismic interferometry method to image the shallow subsurface beneath a 2D geophone array by converting geophones to virtual sources. As there is no pilot signal available for this survey, we use nearest geophone trace for pilot crosscorrelation and pilot deconvolution. We modify the spectrum of pilot crosscorrelation and deconvolution results so that the effect of source function on virtual data is minimized. We then migrate the virtual shots and compare the results of interferometric imaging with the available image from 3D (active source) survey and assess the efficiency of our approach. We show that drill bit noise data can be used to generate a reasonably accurate image of the subsurface even in the absence of pilot recordings but the results should be checked for appearance of virtual multiples and depth inconsistencies that are caused by errors in the migration velocity.
