The retinex is a human perception based image processing algorithm which provides color constancy and dynamic range compression. The multi scale retinex with color restoration (MSRCR) has shown itself to be a very versatile automatic image enhancement algorithm that simultaneously provides dynamic range compression, color constancy, and color rendition. But the MSRCR results suffer from lower global brightness and partial color distortion. In order to improve the MSRCR method, this paper presents a modified MSRCR algorithm to Landsat-5 image enhancement considering percent liner stretch and histogram adjustment. Finally, the effect of modified MSRCR method on Landsat-5 image enhancement is analyzed and the comparison with other color adjustment methods such as gamma correction and histogram equalization is reported in the experimental results.

The tool wear monitoring system based on the image processing and computer vision has better study value and foreground. During the cutting, the cutting tool is always at the movement state, thus, the real-time collected sequence images by CCD sensor are blurred with noise. As a result, we have to confront the problem how to get the high quality images, which is researched by this paper. The paper analyzes the reasons which causing the image blurred, brings forward a degradation function model and finds the degradation of tool wear images dues to the relative movement. According to this function model and combined with the application of fuzzy theory, the restoration algorithm is obtained. The membership function dealing with degraded images of cutting tools is put forward. It turns out that the images restored by this fuzzy restoration algorithm reach our aim.


The images captured by a camera may need tweaking based on the lighting situations present at the scene captured. The extremities in the lighting and the position of the object may sometime degrade the image captured. To have a right image all the time this concept was developed. This paper focuses on the automated procedure which rides over the Multi Scale Retinex with Colour Restoration Algorithm for best possible results. This is a completely automated approach where the user need not do anything apart from giving the image as the input. The main problems in photography are overcome to a great extent using this procedure.

Images captured in fog suffer from low contrast, restoration of fog- degraded images are needed. In this paper, a novel algorithm of image restoration based on wavelet semi-soft threshold is presented. The results show detail restoration and de-noising are improved effectively comparing with Histogram equalization and homomorphic filtering method. It can be concluded that the new algorithm enhanced the contrast of fog-degraded image well.
