Bacteriophage Siskin is a member of the χ-like siphovirus phage cluster that infects Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium strain LT2. Here, we report the complete 58,476-bp sequence of the Siskin genome, provide confirmation of its genomic termini, and describe a potentially new class of holins and endolysins found in the lysis cassette.

ABSTRACT Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium is a Gram-negative pathogen and a primary cause of foodborne illnesses worldwide. Here, we present the complete 47,393-bp genome sequence of the siphophage Skate, which was isolated against S. Typhimurium strain LT2.

ABSTRACT A jumbo bacteriophage, Xoo-sp14, infecting Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae was isolated from rice fields in China. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of this phage, revealing that it had a linear double-stranded DNA (dsDNA) molecule 232,104 bp long, with a G+C content of 58%. It has 251 annotated protein-coding sequences.

Phab24 was isolated from river water in Zhejiang Province, China, and exhibits lytic activity against clinical isolates of the nosocomial pathogen Acinetobacter baumannii (X. Wang, B. Loh, Y. Yu, X. Hua, S. Leptihn, bioRxiv, 2021, https://doi.org/10.1101/2021.07.23.453473 ). The bacteriophage belongs to the Myoviridae family and has a double-stranded DNA (dsDNA) genome sequence that is 93,604 bp long, containing 172 open reading frames (ORFs).

We characterized the complete genome sequence of the lytic Salmonella enterica bacteriophage PRF-SP1, isolated from Penang National Park, a conserved rainforest in northern Malaysia. The novel phage species from the Autographiviridae family has a 39,966-bp double-stranded DNA (dsDNA) genome containing 49 protein-encoding genes and shares 90.96% similarity with Escherichia phage DY1.

Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium is a foodborne pathogen that causes gastroenteritis. Due to increases in antibiotic resistance, bacteriophage therapy may be an alternative method for preventing Salmonella foodborne infections. We report here the complete genome sequence of a T5-like phage, Seabear, which was isolated against S. Typhimurium.
