Paenibacillus polymyxa strain HOB6 was isolated from hemp seed oil. The strain displays antimicrobial activity against fungal pathogens and has potential for development as a biopesticide against cannabis diseases. Its genome was sequenced and annotated, uncovering the ability to encode the biosynthetic pathways for antimicrobial lanthipeptides and nonribosomal peptides.

We report here the draft genome sequence of Paenibacillus polymyxa KF-1, which exhibits excellent antimicrobial activity. It encodes the synthase of bacitracin, kalimantacin, bacillomycin, iturin, fusaricidin, tridecaptin, and pelgipeptin and biosynthetic pathways of antiviral curldan and levan polysaccharides. Also, a novel prophage is involved in this genome that contains endolysin-encoding genes.

This study reports the draft genome sequence of the endophytic Streptomyces cavourensis strain YBQ59, produces the antibiotics bafilomycin D, nonactic acid, prelactone B, and 5,11-epoxy-10-cadinanol. The draft genome sequence comprises ∼10.2 Mb, with a GC content of 64% and 8,958 predicted protein-coding genes, of which 14 gene clusters were found to associate with antibiotic biosynthetic pathways.

Paenibacillus polymyxa DSM 292 was originally isolated from soil in 1947 due to its ability to produce antibiotics. The low proteolytic properties of strain DSM 292 warrant its examination as a host for heterologous protein production. Here, we report the draft genome sequence of DSM 292 as established by Illumina MiSeq paired-end sequencing.

ABSTRACT In an effort to explore myxobacterial natural product biosynthetic pathways, the draft genome sequence of Cystobacter ferrugineus strain Cbfe23 has been obtained. Analysis of the genome using antiSMASH suggests a multitude of unique natural product biosynthetic pathways. This genome will contribute to the investigation of secondary metabolism in other myxobacterial species.

ABSTRACT Staphylococcus epidermidis is a Gram-positive bacterium that is prevalent on human skin. The species is associated with skin health, as well as with opportunistic infections. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of S. epidermidis 14.1.R1, isolated from human skin. In bacterial interference assays, the strain showed exceptional antimicrobial activity.

ABSTRACT We report here the complete genome sequence of Enterococcus faecium strain ICIS 96, which was isolated from the feces of a horse. Bacteriological characterization of strain ICIS 96 revealed the absence of pathogenicity factors, while its spectrum of antagonistic activity was found to be broad, having activities associated with both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Analysis of the E. faecium ICIS 96 genome revealed five genes associated with antimicrobial activity (enterocin [ent] A, ent B, lactobin A/cerein 7b, and ent L50 A/B). No genes that correlate with human pathogenicity were identified.
