Escherichia phage 590B, which was isolated from community sewage water in Chandigarh, India, exhibited lytic activity against an extensively drug-resistant uropathogenic Escherichia coli isolate. The genome of the phage is linear, double-stranded, and 44.39 kb long. Phage 590B is a member of the Siphoviridae family and is closest to phage vB_EcoS_XY2, which was isolated in China.

ABSTRACT Escherichia coli is the most well-studied bacterium and a common colonizer of the lower mammalian gastrointestinal tract. We report here the complete genome sequence of the original Escherichia coli isolate, strain NCTC86, which was described by Theodor Escherich, for whom the genus is named.

We report the complete genome sequence of a colistin-resistant strain of uropathogenic Escherichia coli, isolated in January 2013 at King Abdulaziz Medical City (KAMC), Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The isolate (named SA186) was sequence type 131 (ST131) and belonged to serotype O25b-H4 and clade B (fimH22).

We isolated phage Ec_Makalu_002, which infects uropathogenic strains of Escherichia coli. Here, we report its complete genome sequence, annotated features, and relatedness to other phages.

Here, we announce the complete genome sequence of bacteriophage PhiG17, which is virulent to Escherichia coli O157:H7 strains and was isolated from cattle feces in the North West province of South Africa. This report presents the major genetic features of the phage PhiG17 based on its whole-genome sequence.

Proteus mirabilis is a pathogen that has been linked to nosocomial infections. Studies on phages infecting P. mirabilis may provide therapeutics for infections caused by antibiotic-resistant strains of this pathogen. Here, we announce the complete genome sequence of a P. mirabilis myophage, Mydo, which is distantly related to Escherichia coli phage rv5.

Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) is an opportunistic pathogen that commonly causes foodborne illness. Study of bacteriophages against this pathogen could be useful to develop alternative treatment approaches. Here, we present the complete genome sequence of LL11, a T7-like podophage that infects ETEC.

ABSTRACT Here, we describe the complete genome sequence of siphophage LL5. LL5 is a T1-like phage isolated against enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli, which causes traveler’s diarrhea. LL5 is included as a component phage in the commercial prebiotic product PreforPro.
